We recently connected with Gayle Zerr and have shared our conversation below.
Gayle, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
My freshman year of high school, my mom suggested I register for a floral design class and helped me get a job at a local flower shop. That’s where it all started. I began sweeping floors and cleaning buckets, and within two years I was the lead designer at the shop. I worked there for 10 years before I started my own company, Florist Fire, at 23.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Gayle Zerr and I own Florist Fire Design House. I am a master florist, event designer and educator with 20+ years experience. Based in the beautiful city of Tampa Bay, FL.
— what type of products/services/creative works you provide:
Luxury Wedding + Event Design, Master Floral Curation, and Floral Education
— what problems you solve for your clients and/or what you think sets you apart from others:
I am open and honest with my clients, setting realistic expectations while ensuring their dream + vision comes to life with no stress.
— what are you most proud of and what are the main things you want potential clients/followers/fans to know about you/your brand/your work/ etc.:
I’m most proud of the company I’ve built and the team I have. We pushed a lot of boundaries and learned a lot of things the hard way. I take pride in what my 20+ years experience has taught me, and always welcome a new challenge.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Eventually I would love to create a platform to educate future event designers and florists about the ins and outs of this industry. A place I can share my 20+ years of learning and perfecting my field, and help them navigate this new endeavor, hopefully with more trials than errors :)

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Working alongside like-minded creatives and our clients to design spectacular events. Sometimes we work with our clients for a year+, and after all the long hours of planning, meeting, and designing, seeing it come to life is an incredible feeling. There’s nothing like it.
