Sterling, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today, let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and would love to dive deeper into your work. What problems do you solve for your clients and what sets you apart from others? What are you most proud of? 

What I help clients with the most is finding clarity and confidence within, to embody and express a life reflecting their true desires. Through my various offerings, I support clients with somatic experiencing to dive deep within, reconnect them to their inner authority and find the truth in their hearts – outside of the static of external forces and societal influence. I combine this healing work with practical teachings and resources in breathwork, meditation, conscious movement, energy work, nature immersion and art creation. These services present in a number of ways from 1:1 sessions and mentorship programs to group workshops and retreats. Whether a client is looking for a deep release through holotropic breathwork or images from a photo session that they are actually proud to share; I am here to serve and it is a complete joy to do so.

If I had to select one aspect of my business I’m most proud of that sets me apart, I’d highlight my Embodiment Photo Sessions. They were part of the early stages of Sterling Rose Art and continue to be a favorite among clients. These unique photo sessions are a way to explore, process, integrate and express oneself through embodiment practices and art creation. Here is a taste of the experience…

We start in nature, often a beach or lush forest and begin the process with a meditative walk, allowing the nervous system to begin to settle as we connect with the spirit of the land. From there I intuitively find a place to pause, nestle in and set the container for the experience. I offer an energy clearing, before we ground and begin the embodiment practices. Together we do a series of flowing movements to loosen up the body and release tension. We then sit for some rounds of supportive breathwork to ignite the creative spirit. Once there is a level of comfort, trust and excitement the camera comes out and we begin to co-create. I gently guide the client into various moments interacting with nature, taking in a view, and connecting to their body. This flow offers the ability to capture authentic emotion, rather than rigid poses. We continue to move along the landscape, finding inspiration, foraging plant elements, and finding unique expressions to celebrate! By the completion of the session, the client is fully radiant, embodied and connected to themselves and the land. I’ve often been told “the experience of these sessions is just as valuable, if not more than the stunning images received.” This process is molded into three major categories: Lifestyle Embodiment, Brand Expression, and Love Connection; capturing creative portraiture, maternity, head shots, branding, and engagement celebration!

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?

A significant lesson I had to unlearn is the concept that work is meant to be hard and making money is a stressful undertaking. After starting out on my own, it became very clear that I was blocking myself from success through this limiting belief. It was an idea I picked up from my parents, higher education and society at large that was ingrained in my subconscious. Simply put, if I worked more and harder I’d find more success. I’ve learned that is simply untrue. Part of that is unpacking the meaning of success, which I believe is a very personal one. After consideration and deep internal processing I was able to overcome this belief and create an aligned workflow that brings me more success with ease.

Finally, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being an artist or creative?

I love the freedom it offers me. There is an incredible sense that anything is possible, each day is different and there is always room for growth. Of course I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the impact. Witnessing the personal growth in clients as they begin to feel empowered and express their truth, feels fulfilling to say the least. It is a complete honor to help facilitate transformation and make art with beautiful souls who bring so much creativity and light into each experience!
