We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Christopher Fuentes a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Christopher, appreciate you joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I was about 16 years old when I first really started to get into music. The band that really turned my heart towards music is The Beatles. Some time after that I discovered the best guitar player that has ever lived, Jimi Hendrix. I would spend hours discovering new Jimi Hendrix videos online and when I would watch these videos, a spark would ignite in me and I would go “yup, thats it, this is what i want to do with my life.”
Christopher, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Christopher Fuentes, I am a singer/songwriter and the front man for the up and coming Alternative band called “TMEG”. TMEG Is an Alternative/Indie Pop band based in Los Angeles, California. The band showcases modern danceable music with a hint of vintage soul and nostalgia. With the use of larger than life warm synths, punchy drums, lush guitars, thick bass lines, and soft vocals. TMEG takes the sound and vibes of today and pushes them into the new heights of tomorrow.
My role in TMEG doesn’t just stop at being the front man, I am actively writing new songs, recording new tracks, mixing tracks, mastering tracks, filming music videos, editing music videos, publishing tracks, promoting tracks, etc. and when its all over, i just rinse and repeat.
I got into music by being inspired by bands such as: The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, The Cure, Mac Demarco, Tame Impala, etc. I have just always wanted to reach people and touch them in the same way that these songs from these legendary bands do.
I absolutely love connecting with fans/followers through my music. I am someone that takes the time to get to grow relationships with our followers to do life together.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
I think the most rewarding aspect of creating my music is when people come up to me and express their love and their compatibility to my music. There are people that take my songs and claim them as their own. They identify with the song and play the song none stop on repeat because of their love for it. There is no greater feeling that being able to connect with people and touch their hearts and soul with my music and building that relationship.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I actually have 2 goals that I am working towards. My first goal is to be able to give myself, as well as my band members, a very comfortable live through our music. My second goal is to be able to reach the masses with my songs and connect with people with the universal language of music.
