We recently connected with Anthony Balladarez and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Anthony thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
Working at Transplants Brewing Company was a bittersweet experience for me. I was attending Cal State Bakersfield for a degree in criminal justice with a minor in psychology when I was hired as a janitor. I was also working at Roundtable Pizza, delivering pizzas. I was initially tasked with mopping and sweeping the taproom and what is now the venue room. However, I quickly became interested in the brewing process and began pointing out ways that things could be improved. Matt and Sarah, the owners of Transplants, took me under their wing and taught me everything I needed to know about brewing.
After graduating from college, I had to make a difficult decision. I could either pursue my college career or pursue my passion for brewing. In the end, I chose to follow my heart and become a brewer.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Anthony Balladarez, and I’m a 29-year-old brewer at Transplants Brewing Company in Lancaster, California. I grew up in the Antelope Valley and was always told from a young age to go to college to make something of myself. I did graduate college, but I quickly realized that my passion was brewing beer. At Transplants, we offer a wide variety of beers and seltzers, from traditional styles to more experimental ones. We believe that having a variety of options is the best way to appeal to both seasoned beer drinkers and newcomers to the craft beer scene.
What sets us apart from other breweries is our commitment to creativity and innovation. We’re always experimenting with new flavors and ingredients, and we’re not afraid to take risks. We also have a talented art director, BL Singleton, who creates stunning artwork for our beers and taproom.
In addition to our great beer, we also host a variety of events, from concerts to drag brunches. We’re proud to create a chill and inviting atmosphere where people can come together to enjoy good beer and good times.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding part of brewing for me is the connections I make with people from all walks of life. It’s exciting to meet new people and build friendships over a beer. I’m thrilled to create art that helps people relax and enjoy each other’s company.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My mission is to brew great-tasting beer and create a welcoming atmosphere for our community. I am driven to perfect and innovate the craft brewery industry.
