We were lucky to catch up with Amelia Rohr recently and have shared our conversation below.
Amelia, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
The story behind the name: Silva
Phelomina Silva-Bryant was my mother’s name. Silva was her maiden name, originating in the Cape Verde Islands. She was young, adventurous, strong, resilient and I swear anything she touched gave off a warm glow. She worked in the field of non-profit and, alongside my father Michael, she cared for people with special needs. She enjoyed being not only a mother to my sister, my brother and me but she was also a pretty great grandma to my niece. Family is EVERYTHING, a safe place. She stood firm when it came to peace and comfort. She believed that touch was powerful and it could heal more than just the body, but your mind and soul too. She encouraged me to become the therapist I am today, she was my personal cheerleader. She believed in the work I do, and her dream was to see me succeed in owning my craft and sharing it with as many people as possible, even when I would say “yeah, ok mom” when she would apply pressure on me owning my own small business, she knew I could do waaay before I even knew I could. Failing is not an option. Her name on my brand is a constant reminder of who I am doing this for, all the people who count on me, and most of all the people who want to see me WIN.
She is my motivation to get up each day and thrive to make sure that you are not only getting a massage, but an overall healing experience.
Rest in the greatest paradise mom…
Phelomina Silva-Bryant

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Amelia Rohr (formally Bryant). I Got married 11/30/2022. I have 1 dog, Kai. I love traveling, exploring new places and trying new restaurants. I am obsessed with crystals, candles,& positive manifestations. I am a licensed massage therapist, practicing since 2013. I graduated from Minnesota School of Business-Plymouth. I always knew I wanted to be a therapist, but I was unsure of which area to pursue. Massage therapy changed everything for me and I’m thankful this is where my journey has led me. I believe in fully listening to the guest’s needs/concerns and being able to customize a session that addresses their unique issues. No two sessions are exactly the same. I love growing and expanding my knowledge of massage and the different types of modalities. I offer take home remedies to continue and/or prolong the results of your massage and overall well-being.
Some of my favorite modalities is:
Deep tissue bodywork
Cupping
Pre-natal
Trigger point therapy
Sports/active stretching
Some of my top selling products:
smudge kits
CBD salves, oils and bath bombs
weighted eye pillows
gift cards
I pride myself in providing a safe and therapeutic space for my guests to relax, unwind, process what their feeling and most of all HEAL. Imagine already being in a vulnerable state and trusting a complete stranger to make you feel better? body-mental connection is a DEEP ROOTED thing. If you are uncomfortable your body will go into fight or flight, but when fully relaxed, seen, heard, and understood is can truly be a healing experience. My mission is to help people truly Reset, Refocus and Reconnect with their mind, body, and soul.
I am EXTREMELY proud of myself for opening a business in the HEART of a pandemic and only growing stronger/ feeling secure within my brand and skills. approaching 3 years strong and hopefully many more to go, as long as people are stressed and achy… I will always have a strong clientele to work with.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Say it with me..
WORD OF MOUTH!!
People forget how important personal referrals are. It is truly a blessing to have REAL supporters that believe in you and the service you provide. They want to send their mother, father, siblings, children, cousins, neighbors, their neighbor’s neighbors; anyone who will listen and in need. Even though I have social media presence and effective marketing tools– I have luckily thrived off of word of mouth. business cards, working events, business galas- people are the most intrigued by your story when someone else is telling it. I always stay mindful of how I present myself, my brand, and my services… I LOVE EXCEEDING THE HYPE. If someone told you that I gave them the best massage they ever had, when you come to see me, I want that to ring true for you too.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Energy. Understanding/Respect. Drive.
These 3-4 things is the best formula (in my case/opinion) the best way to uphold a solid reputation and hopefully motivating to my peers within the same industry.
Energy- If you walked into a Room that smelt clean, looked clean, a therapist that had a smile and a calm tone- I would hope you would feel welcomed and safe. I’ve never met anyone who said they were able to succeed with a negative mindset, chaotic workspace, harsh attitude/unapproachable vibe. People look to have a session that balances them, the goal is to leave feeling better than you arrived. Energy is transferrable and you can project that on to your guests. always ground yourself and be present with your clients when providing a service- trust me they will know.
Understanding/Respect- the fact that its 2023 and we still have to talk about this is WILD. It is truly common sense. always treat your guests with respect, be understanding of their situations, and PLEASE listen to them. If they come in with back pain, don’t spend half the session working on their arms or feet (unless requested). curate a service that is specifically made for their needs and focuses. Let them know you hear them and see them- they are there for a reason. No 2 sessions are the same. If you provide a “one size fits all” service, that can heavily impact your market. You must do something that makes you stand out- and most times LISTENING to your guest is the best way to get more people into the door to see what they have been missing out on.
Drive- This one is my favorite. If something is half baked, they will know. If you are not invested in what you are doing, they will know. if something is not your passion, they will know. I have told some of my colleagues in this industry that it does not matter how many degrees you have, if you don’t have the vision and the drive to get you to where you are going- all that hard work earning those degrees is for nothing. Some of the most successful people/ entrepreneurs did not have degrees, they had passion, motivation, a solid plan, and LOTS OF HOPE. Being a small business owner is HARD, its TERRIFYING! But its the most amazing and exhilarating thing you will ever do if you have the drive to keep moving forward and finding new ways to evolve and build your brand successfully. If you have your hand in ‘too many pots’ you can lose sight of what the big picture is. Master your craft, take care of yourself, never stop learning- always keep the drive to thrive!
