We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Rachel Manning . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Rachel below.
Rachel , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
My husband and I had just gotten married. We were driving back from South Carolina and had hangovers, lol. As we were riding in the car we talked about how we were going to be serious about having a business and decided that doing something around healthcare would be best. My Husband had a trucking business, that due to Covid, declined.I had a photography business that I did not take serious. I had decided that I enjoyed it better as pleasure and not for work. My background was being an ICU Registered Nurse. I was working in ICU and Trauma and when covid came, they dynamics of the hospital shifted in a major way. I then started working from home as a Nurse Consultant and that just was not enough for me. I wanted to start this business to still be able to deal with clients but in a positive way. I love making people laugh and smile and helping them in the best way possible. So IV Hydration was the most ideal thing to do at the time. People cared about their health. They cared about being healthy and not getting sick. I was so relieved that patients were not dying and I was yet still helping in such a possible way. After being 1 month in with IV Hydration, It was not enough for me. Being a person, who always valued luxury and beauty I wanted to get into aesthetics. So I then took courses and 1 on 1 training on the different services you could provide in Aesthetics, and from there here we are. I am so in love with this business and can finally say, I am doing absolutely.what I love to do.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Rachel Manning. I am a wife to my high school sweetheart and a mother to three hyperactive boys. I am from chapel hill, North Carolina. I have been a Registered Nurse since July of 2018 and can finally say I found what I love to do. I was an ICU and Trauma nurse before exploring entrepreneurship. Once covid came about, I developed anxiety from the reality of having patients die day in and day out. It wasn’t enough work life balance for me and my family, and so I left the hospital and transitioned to becoming a Nurse Consultant for a pharmaceutical company. At this time, I was working from home and had more free time to explore different things. Hence, how I was able to dive into the business I have now. At Restore and Rejuvenate Hydration, I offer a wide range of services. Some of these services include: Dermal Fillers, lip fillers, facial balancing, Botox, Chemical Peels, ,Weight loss management, Lipo dissolve, IV Hydration, Vitamin therapy, Facials and full body waxing. I love being in this Med spa industry, because I still am able to have an intimate relationship with my clients while still making them feel and look good. I am a Black woman who provides luxury to all. I love being able to normalize black girl luxury within Aesthetics, beauty, and wellness. What people don’t know about me is that, I have set up a business that is ran full time, while I am able to work full time as a project manager.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
When it comes to strategies for growing your clientele. I would have to say, make people feel good. About 90% of my clients all come from referral of another client. I watched Kevin Harts show one day and what he said clicked with me and it has been my strategy for growing clients ever since, “Brands worked because you did something right and it made people want more.” Every single client that walk through my door, I treat as if it is their first time and is very dedicated to delivering the best experience possible.
How’d you meet your business partner?
My cofounder/business partner is actually my husband. My husband, but my friend. We have been together since high school actually, and are now married with 3 children.
