Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Amanda Miceli. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Amanda, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What do you think it takes to be successful?
Oh what it takes to be successful, that’s a large loaded question for sure! Obviously it is different for everybody as success looks different in everybody’s life. However, personally I think success is about doing everything you can every day to reach your goals and whatever those goals look like and really just stemming from the inner part of that want, need, and desire to be the best possible version of yourself and doing what you love. And It’s not just about being successful and having an abundance of money and living that lifestyle it’s about what makes you happy and do you love what you’re doing and are you trying to be a better person? Is coming from the fact that I just wanna be the best version of Amanda Miceli or whoever you might be that I possibly can be? What can I do to be the best possible version of myself because that best version will show up for everybody else which will encourage other people to be their best selves and be successful in whatever their success may look like. If you really want to get deep, personally success in my life looks like I am waking up early every day and doing my morning routine of yoga, meditation, journaling, working out, going for a walk, eating healthy, and really fueling my brain and preparing it for the day. My morning routine is something that’s huge for myself and my success and at least getting one thing done a day towards my big goals. What’s that big goal that you’re working towards and what is a mission in one business or another just really trying to do one thing a day to reach those. My mom always encourage me and say ‘Hey just try to do one thing a day even if it’s just sending one email. Take three minutes or five minutes a day to complete one task. Which goes back to that Atomic Habits, it’s the same thing. Running a business is sometimes hard, we don’t always get a personal day, you don’t get that day to say I am not feeling all that well mentally and I’m not gonna do anything today. There’s some days we can do that but there’s other days where OK well that deadline is at 12 o’clock and you can’t push that back so yeah success looks like taking care of myself and taking care of my mind and really just being able to connect and build a community. I really just want to be able to connect with every individual out there that resonates with what we are doing. That really looks at my work and it means something to them and vice versa and like I said before, you are able to draw that best person out of your self and everyone around. I think that’s what life and success is all about for me, is being able to be unapologetically me and encourage other people to be unapologetically them.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
So first off my name is Amanda Miceli. I am the Founder and CEO of The BOLD Marketing Agency. Which is a creative marketing agency that works with luxury and product brands to really bring to the forefront a retro aesthetic strategic and spunky marketing point of view. We assist brands in their Creative Direction, Social Media Marketing, Branding, Website Creation, Graphic Design, and Product Photography/Content Creation.
We believe that a huge part of marketing is having all those pieces work together, which means outsourcing to a creative team that will bring to the table an array of different perspectives, cultures, and ways of thinking while they make something magical but cohesive because in the world of marketing you really need everything to be consistent, strategic, yet out of the box. At BOLD, we’ve done and continue to do a lot of research on the topic of marketing psychology. We really have to think so deeply about every aspect of projects. We have to understand how people’s brains work and how it’s gonna work when they see the marketing materials. For example, there is a flyer that someone sees on the side of the street. When designing that, we have to think about the person who we want to notice that poster and why. We have to think about what that person is doing in their day-to-day life and how we can make them think about this poster any differently than the last ten they saw.
That’s why we were a huge product marketing company because we can really deep dive and think about every product on that psychological level of ‘what do we have to do to make sure that the exact audience of people are going to notice this and resonate with it. We really get down to the nitty-gritty of the knowledge behind it. The natural facts and science, which I think some people don’t always do when planning their marketing layout, especially if you are a business owner trying to do it alone.
That’s a little bit more about The BOLD Marketing Agency and who we are. As for how I got into marketing, I had always been a creative individual ever since I was a kid. I was always drawing, painting, wearing funky clothes, doing weird things, like I was a weird kid man, I still am. But I was always doing being artsy and I always knew I was meant to do something creative (8 year old me wanted to be Miley Cryus actually) Anyways, I went to school for business and I was working at a local pharmacy as a technician and proposed to do their marketing, and that was my first marketing role. Fast forward a year or so and I graduated college and packed up my bags and moved to South Florida. It was there that I met this girl that I am blessed to have taught me so much about social media management and how to do freelance work, which was awesome because I hadn’t necessarily been familiar with that before. I went off and started doing freelance just picking up clients word of mouth. I then started working at a marketing company in Naples Florida and was trying to start my own clothing brand and then I realized “This is so much overhead in my life right now why would I why would I do that I don’t have the room for it I don’t necessarily have the financial means for it so I said why don’t I take my own advice that I give my clients and I said why don’t I start my own marketing company and market it?’ So I started designing and brainstorming in April 2022 and I launched The BOLD Marketing Agency on June 20, 2022 and the rest is history! I’ve had my business for a little over a year now and it’s been the most incredible journey. As every entrepreneur knows, your first year of business is a roller coaster to say the least. You learn a lot, you fail a lot, and you grow a lot and I think that’s the most beautiful thing about it and I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
Yes, there have been a great amount of books and podcasts that have completely changed my perspective and thinking on a personal and professional level. This is actually one of the number one questions that I always ask successful people. 9 out of the 10 times they’re always reading something or listening to something that will change my life. That being said, a few key books that have really impacted me are, one of the first being, E squared by Pam Groot. This one was probably one of the best books I have ever read. It really helped me so much to learn and grow, as it is a book with nine experiments that teach you how powerful your brain is. That you are capable of anything that you put your mind to, there is literally nothing that can stop you. The universe will find a way when you find a way. It’s all about your mentality, your mind and how you look at things and how you can understand that you’re in control of it and you can be a conscious player in the game. Another book that really aided me was Think and Grow Rich and Rich Dad Poor Dad, those two helped me in thinking differently when it comes to terms of money. Atomic habits was another awesome book, it showed me how to tackle tasks that seem daunting, something like ‘I gotta work out for an hour every morning’. How about I start off with five push-ups a day OK and grow to more. It’s a lot easier to convince yourself to get up and do 5 push ups rather than putting off that hour workout every single day because you’re going to continue to put it off, that’s just how the brain works. The book is about tackling goals on a smaller scale, that doesn’t seem so terrifying and daunting and large and I think that really is the key to starting habits or projects because otherwise it’s just always this huge project that hangs over your head and that’s the worst feeling ever. So Atomic Habits and then How Highly Effective People Speak by Peter D Andrei – He really pieces together the statistics behind people’s brains and why they think the way they do and how we can use that information to ensure that we are communicating in the most clear way, which is important in business for more reasons than one, and just in life in general whether you’re talking to your doctor or your friend. And then podcast wise, can never go wrong with Joe Rogan – he will give me nothing but awesome information. But a huge podcast for me is The Futur by Chris Do – for those of you that don’t know who he is, he is very well known in the design community. Chris Do is one of the most incredible speakers that I’ve ever listened to in my whole entire life. I can just listen to him talk endlessly and I think a lot of other people could as well. He has a podcast that he’ll bring in other entrepreneurs or skilled professionals to speak on their craft. Every single time I listen to his podcast I feel energized and recharged and I have 10 million ideas to implement into both my personal life or for my business. And specifically my business, I’ve changed my business model twice since listening to the podcast because of the questions that he asked and the answers that he gets from the people that are on the show. The things that they teach are out of this world. If you are not familiar with him I definitely recommend him 10 out of 10 even if you are not in marketing I recommend him, but yeah if you’re in the design world and you don’t know about Chris Do, do yourself a favor and go follow him on every single platform ever. Overall I would definitely say these are my top book and podcast recommendations that have aided in my personal success!
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
I really try to always have unconditional support for everyone in my life, and specifically my clients. Since The BOLD Marketing Agency is remote based, we have clients from anywhere, however a lot of them are usually in the 4 states that I am personally in, Florida, Wisconsin, New York, and Arizona so it is nice to be able to plan visits with clients during those times. Otherwise, obviously call, text, and emails are the prime communication platforms and I am always staying in touch and congratulating them or asking them how they’re doing personally or whatever it may be. I think the key to brand loyalty is just being honest and genuine. You start to learn that all of these business owners are in it together. Failures and triumphs that I experience, other entrepreneurs are as well or have in their past. When you can have a genuine relationship and learn more about each other and each other’s businesses is when you create that brand loyalty. Because it turns into working with your friend and not your client. My mom, who is a very successful entrepreneur that I look up to so much, always says your clients will become your friends faster than your friends will become your clients and that could not be more true. But your clients really do turn into your friends and that community starts to build from there. For example, I have this client that makes the most amazing soy candles with really clever labels (@imjusme101). She’s really such a beautiful person inside and out and has taught me a lot about business as well which is really cool to have a client that ‘Yeah I’m helping you but you’re also helping me in every which way.’ and I would always tell my sister about her and my sister then went and bought a bunch of candles from her in support of her business. It is really cool to be able to be a part of building that community for your own business, but others as well. When you and your clients are truly on the same page together, you begin to be able to help each other in life and business which is where that brand loyalty comes in, but I like to call it friendship.
