We were lucky to catch up with Krystal Davis recently and have shared our conversation below.
Krystal , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.
My defining moment in my nursing career was actually last year January 2022. As a traveling critical care nurse of 3 years at the time, I made the decision to take a leap of faith and I took about 8 months off from working and bought a one way ticket to Costa Rica ( I ended up spending 4 months in Costa Rica). I had no set plan or confirmed goal at the time. I utilized this time off by strengthening my spirituality, bonding in nature, pouring into my self-care cup and aligning with my true purpose.
I had realized that working during the COVID19 pandemic took a huge toll on my mental & my spirit. I was completely exhausted working in a crumbling healthcare system. So, during this time in the tropics, I was able to completely slow down from the hustle and bustle mindset & explore what fulfilled my spirit. It was truly a time of the “unknown” for me. I had no idea when or if I would take another job assignment. Initially, I was terrified because I was conditioned to think that I should always be in productivity mode or always have a guarantee plan.
But, as I reflected on my own thought process, I began to realize that I needed stillness and it was ok to reevaluate my career & life goals.
So then during Spring of 2022 I launched my travel agency, Lamour Travel and also launched my first women’s wellness retreat in Costa Rica. Providing a wellness service for other’s to encourage them to prioritize self-care and discover themselves in such a magical location gave me a new spice for life that I knew I needed.
I realized that my heart was no longer in bedside nursing.I discovered that my purpose included creating a brand for myself to help other women through their own life journey or traveling needs.

Krystal , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Well, I am a Detroit native and relocated to Phoenix one year ago initially for travel nursing. I have been a nurse for about 7 years, and at this point in my career I am merging my nursing knowledge with holistic health to be of service to people who struggle with stress, maintaining or creating health goals, and chronic illnesses who may seek an alternative approach for their care. To sum up what I do, my brand is centered around wellness and travel. I own a leisure travel business Lamour Travel, I am a health and wellness nurse coach, and I am a host & organizer of women’s wellness retreats.
My niche is centered around women who need a break and want to simply pour back into themselves. I set up one on one nurse coaching calls with my clients to provide them with tools to develop goals and regain power over their lives. They may need a professional like myself, to facilitate this change process through coaching and/or attending one of my wellness retreats.
What sets me apart from others is the unique experiences I provide, from booking travel experiences to one on one coach sessions. My clients in general not only receive exceptional service, but they get to receive compassion, patience, and a safe space to be vulnerable and express their needs from me. We develop this professional, yet comforting and trusting relationship, which I think is very important when you are providing a service to others.
I am very proud that I was able to create a brand that caters to women who need support with establishing self-care and overall well-being. As women, we are constantly catering to the needs of other’s and I am grateful for my passion to provide this service.
Currently, I am only offering my nurse coach sessions to new clients during my wellness retreat experiences. My next women’s wellness retreat is March 16-22,2024 in the tropics of Costa Rica, and it is currently open for registration! We will be spending 7 days in the tropics immersing in nature, yoga, hanging out with the Indigenous natives and more.
I am always accepting new clients to book travel experiences. You can inquire about general travel or about my wellness retreats at www.lamourtravel.com or send me an email at [email protected].

If you could go back in time, do you think you would have chosen a different profession or specialty?
Yes, I would still choose nursing as my primary profession. My career in nursing has opened so many doors for me and has guided me to my health & wellness brand that I am building today. I think I needed those years of experience working in the Westernized healthcare system to learn what I did/did not like about the healthcare system and how I could potentially improve a patient’s outcome by exploring an integrative medicine approach. I have always been interested in integrative medicine and the interest spiked higher after COVID19 while witnessing this continued rise in chronic illnesses and the detrimental effects.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
I have grown my clientele by being more personable via social media. Navigating social media while being a healthcare professional, I was always advised to be careful about what I post on social media and that message stuck with me over the years. But, as time went on and I began launching more travel content from my personal life I noticed I would receive more prospects and clientele by being more personable on social media. Most of my content is centered around my personal travel experiences and self-care. It gives my audience the chance to experience these things with me from a virtual distance.
