We were lucky to catch up with Ryan Amoils recently and have shared our conversation below.
Ryan, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about a time you helped a customer really get an amazing result through their work with you.
Yeah! So being an online marketplace its great to power local businesses to sell through our platform and reach customers they never have. We have multiple local dealers selling through our platform who have done north of six figures in sales.
Ryan, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
MX Locker is an online marketplace built for the dirt bike community. We are a peer to peer marketplace, that allows users to buy and sell riding gear bike parts and dirt bikes. Growing up, I was fascinated by the e-commerce and the internet, and found myself flipping shoes to hats. My enthusiasm for dirt bike riding made me merge my two favorite hobbies: buying and selling, and dirt bike riding to start MX Locker. It’s awesome now to power a marketplace of over 170,000 users and powering the circular economy within the dirt bike industry.
We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.
Me and Andrew went to college together. While in college, I had a simple e-commerce site but I was not technical at all. Andrew was the one I went to for any questions regarding websites, etc. When MX Locker began to get traction, I convinced him out of college to join me to take the company to the next level.
How’d you think through whether to sell directly on your own site or through a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc.
We are a marketplace – so essentially we have created the Amazon, etsy for the dirt bike community. That’s our mission.
