We recently connected with Paida and have shared our conversation below.
Paida, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you tell us about a time that your work has been misunderstood? Why do you think it happened and did any interesting insights emerge from the experience?
I’ve had some sudden growth lately while pursuing this career path, which means that my style and music has reached a lot of new eyes, many of which who were outside of the intended audience. Of course, this is the goal for many artists so we can expand our reach a lot of like minded and open minded people. In tandem with that, is a rather vocal minority of people who simply do not understand what they’re seeing and do not care to. Those people are really consistent with expressing their ignorance on the topics and making it painfully apparent how little they know about what I’m doing and what they think they’re protecting. While it’s pretty frustrating having people make uninformed assumptions about me, it’s really more embarrassing for them. I’ve completely given up on trying to politely educate them, with time the entire world will understand what I’m doing and where I come from, and they’ll have plenty of time to finally get me, or finally realize that whatever I do should have little to no real estate in their minds.

Hi y’all! My name is PAiDA (pronounced like Pie-Duh) and I am your resident space alien dystopian pop idol, a direct by-product of the current state of affairs on Earth! I live in Texas’ Space City for now, and I have been slowly growing my power and recruiting an army of Earth-saving humans for the ultimate planetary cleanse! So far I have shared my voice and message with humans all over North America, Japan, and soon to be the whole world- so yes, you’re next! NFT’s are super stupid and gross.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Other than saving the planet? I know that seems like a grim topic to focus on, but I really want to spread positivity and happiness to others. Maybe it is a little messed up viewpoint, but we all live on this tiny burning rock floating in space with an exceedingly grim future quickly approaching. Despite that, we keep pushing each other down, trying to judge and control each other with various social or political limitations, throwing slurs at our own while completely ignore the very real and major problem of “our home is dying” you know what I mean? So in that vein, I’d rather help humanity to the realization that none of the rules matter, we should be A LOT kinder to one another and work together to focus on the bigger picture; healing the planet that we all live on. Can’t fight each other over dumb shit if we’re all dead right? haha… yeah.
