We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Lisseth DeGracia a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Lisseth, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.
At Dynamic Drips, our infusion recipes are our own, and are mixed immediately prior to administration to give our clients the greatest benefit possible. A common way of business in the IV infusion industry is to buy pre formulated kits that come from the pharmacy and are ready to infuse for multiple different infusion purposes. Our recipes were personally formulated, and are all different from one another. The infusions that we provide our clients are infused after careful calculation of density, and extensive research of vitamins and how they specifically impact body processes. We also use a specific kind of IV catheter that is manufactured for a more comfortable insertion for the client. These differences are important because of the knowledge and experience base that they stem from. I have been an adjunct faculty member for the Masters Physicians Assistant program at St. Catherine University for over ten years. I lecture the students on fluid balance and how to choose the right fluid concentrations and amounts for different patient populations. I have also instructed the specialized skill of vascular access for many large hospital systems in the US. I worked these two positions while also working vascular access at Children’s Hospital, and working in Emergency Medicine in level one trauma centers. Dynamic Drips is the only company in Minnesota that can infuse pediatric patients, and is one of the few companies that is able to tailor their infusions to their clients needs. This allows us to reach a much broader demographic than most. The expertise that comes with the experience of my career has been the base of Dynamic Drips going above and beyond industry standards for our clients.
Lisseth, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Lisseth DeGracia, and I am the owner of Dynamic Drips. I am a mother of three beautiful children, and grew up in a small suburb near Minneapolis after coming to the United States with my family from the county of Panama. I have been a Registered Nurse for almost 13 years, with most of my experience in Emergency Medicine and vascular access. While working as an RN, I also have been a faculty member in a Masters PA-C program, where I educate PA students on Emergency Medicine topics including fluid balance and IV insertion skill. Dynamic Drips was started after years of both teaching and practicing relevant medicine, while knowing that there was a bigger purpose to fill with my expertise. We are a mobile IV infusion company that is based in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota and also operable in both Wisconsin and the Houston area of Texas. We offer twelve different infusion options, as well as a broad range of additional medications, vitamins, and antioxidants. At Dynamic Drips, we provide our clients with both an experience and product that enhances their wellbeing in a number of ways. Our clients feel more energy throughout their day, they experience improved sleep cycles, digestion, metabolism, mood, athletic performance, and so much more! We are also able to help clients with non acute medical problems like migraines, stomach flus, travel fatigue, and pain or discomfort from injuries. Because our purpose is supported with a rarely specialized knowledge base, we not only provide an unparalleled experience, but also form trusting relationships with our clients. Something that I am incredibly proud of within this company is the positivity of nursing and the difference that we are able to make in clients lives while feeling appreciated and valued as a healthcare professional. Not only are our clients feeling their best, we have created a culture in nursing that has our nurses feeling fantastic as well! The nurses taking care of our clients, absolutely love what we do, and that makes all of the difference.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
When I started my business I was not very social media savvy. I did have a personal page but did not operate it with any specific purpose. Most of my posts were my kiddos and my workouts :) I started Dynamic Drips’ social media pages and did not have a plan as to how I would increase or build my audience, my goal was only to make sure that people know that we are a resource for them. Being proud of and confident in what we offer was something that helped my audience grow from the start. One of the first ways that I grew my audience was simply reaching out to my own followers and friends, asking them to follow and share my page. The people that I am connected with personally were the first people that I reached out to, knowing that if they support me in life, they will likely support my new adventure. From the beginning I wanted to stay organic. I did not want to pay for followers or likes, I wanted my presence on social media to be genuine and real. I initially posted informational posts, to help people understand what we do and how we can help them.
Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
Initially, in order to fund my business I simply worked. A lot. I was working 48 hours a week in the Emergency Department for the entirety of the first year that I was in business. I worked a 3pm-3:30am shift, and did infusions and built the business in between. I made a point to save as much money as I could for personal and life expenses, and put any money coming in back into the business. Building up a safety net in life for my necessary bills helped me get to a point where I felt like I could put my all into my business. In early June of 2022, I worked my last shift in the ER, and took a leap of faith. The following month, my revenue doubled what its highest in a month had ever been. Working more than full time while also starting and building a business was incredible difficult to manage, but has been one of the most rewarding decisions I have made.
