We were lucky to catch up with Ayesha Patrick and Naisha Andrews recently and have shared our conversation below.
Ayesha and Naisha, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
The mission of Culture Clix Media & Photography, LLC is to share stories through photography & dynamic digital content that uplifts, empowers, and ignites. We create content using captivating visuals that represent community and cultural expression. It’s important for us to further promote the collective of our community’s talents in art, business, and life by collaborating with and highlighting their individual stories.
Social media is not always a pleasant experience, and navigating some of the harsh content can be a challenge. From viewing police brutality, racism, school shootings, violence against the LGBTQIA+ community, etc. it can become overwhelming. The pandemic forced us all to rely on social media for many purposes and even with all of the aforementioned it served as a place of community. Creating opportunities to bring to light any and all occurrences of joy and dopeness that might not get attention regularly emboldened our passion to create.
Culture Clix understands the power of social media to extend our reach beyond our borders of New Jersey. Using the internet as a tool we have the ability to share specific and strategic content for global and universal impact. More importantly we can share positivity, as well as the gifts and talents that are all around us that we otherwise may not have known.
We truly strive to be purposeful in helping the masses to observe examples of joy, laughter, and everyday people who are making a difference. This is the driving force whenever we create through our photography or videography. We understand the importance of representation and the power in using our voices to highlight and build each other up. It encourages us to be conscious and take the time to learn more about those we are capturing. Building relationships is critical and with each opportunity we build upon our network.
Ayesha and Naisha, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
We met in 2017 and started sharing various aspects of art and culture with one another. We soon realized that we were both lovers of creativity, individuality, and we both appreciated the eclectic styles of those brave enough to display it. Naisha who was working on defining her role in the world of photography under her Afia’s Legacy, LLC brand and myself, Ayesha who was a content creator & social media manager for local small businesses would often support each other in our individual endeavors. We soon realized the magnitude of our collaboration, often with others praising the output of our works. We began to realize the power of our connection in culture, creativity, and friendship. Representing all of that within our own very small 2 person clique we started to merge ideas of how we could collectively find our purpose together. This led to the formation of Culture Clix.
Our ultimate goal as a digital media brand is to positively elevate the essence of art, business, and lifestyle through photography and digital content. We’re most proud of the connections we have been able to make. We understand the importance of networking and developing positive spaces where we can be free to uplift other creatives.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Our strategy has been building our network through collaborations. We truly are stronger together, and community means everything. Referrals from these collaborations have led to us building our portfolio. When a business owner works with Culture Clix and they are pleased with what we create, they instantly feel motivated to share their experience with others by referring them to our business.
How did you build your audience on social media?
We’ve built and continue to grow our social media audience by connecting with them through content that inspires and informs. We engage with our audience daily and use insights on our social media account to learn who our audience is. This helps us to determine what works and what doesn’t from the content we share. We are very intentional in learning who our audience is so that we are able to create more of what they would like to see.
For anyone building your social media presence, consistency is key. Continue to create, engage and post regularly. Organic growth is best and will lead to developing a presence and connection with your audience. Utilize tools to make things easier like a scheduling program. Most importantly, plan and strategize the content you will share. Randomly posting will not benefit you, it’s important you prepare and have a social media strategy.
