We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Olivia Carlino. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Olivia below.
Olivia, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
Mudari Creative is named after my grandmother, whose maiden name was Mudari. She was a seamstress who aspired to start a line of high-fashion clothing. She made intricate pieces but was never able to bring the company to fruition as she was raising four children. The name Mudari Creative pays homage to her creativity and ambition. While Mudari Creative may be a wedding planning and design business, we use a similar artistic lens to authentically cultivate one-of-a-kind experiences for couples, their friends and families.
Olivia, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I started Mudari Creative after I planned and designed my own wedding. My wedding was featured in The Wedding Sparrow, the original fine art wedding magazine. After an outpouring of compliments and inquiries I decided to use my talents to help other couples have a stress-free weddings. In essence, my wedding planning and design business is a testament to the power of forging connections, nurturing creativity, and sculpting memories that endure. It is an avenue for those who seek a wedding that mirrors their spirits, a place where visions take shape, and where every detail is suffused with intention and heart. What sets my business apart is embracing my role as a creative visionary – I infuse each wedding with elements that are unique to that couple. I use themes and concepts in collaboration with my clients to fuse an authentic experience, so much so that clients of mine become some of my dearest friends. I am most proud of my ingenuity, rapid growth, and ability to connect with couples who were once strangers.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Throughout this venture I have shown that collaboration takes precedence over competition. I approach other creatives with the notion that long lasting partnerships is based on kindness and mutual respect. Rather than viewing the wedding scene as a battleground, I nurture this community by applauding other creatives’ talents, especially since it is mostly women-owned. This has helped me build a reputation as someone who is trustworthy, transparent and humble. The bonds I have made have helped grow my business – these vendors who see that I build bridges rather than barriers come to me for collaborations or client referrals. My dedication to working as a team leaves a heartwarming impact on both the couples I serve and the vendor community I help uplift.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
My client influx thrives on two currents: Instagram’s visual allure and the enduring impact of word-of-mouth. Instagram paints my editorial approach, while personal recommendations build trust. Together, they orchestrate discovery, guiding potential clients towards the realization of their dream weddings.
