Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lawrence Youngblood. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Lawrence thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
While I was in prison reforming my life. I was tired of feeling like a loser and just wanted to do something constructive and positive in my life for a chance. And learning I was good at writing and story telling, I realized this was the path my life needed.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Okay, well, my name is Lawrence Youngblood. Born and raised in New Orleans Louisiana. I’m a self published author and CEO/owner of LY Publications and LY Films. I’ve written two trilogies, with one being a memoir and the other a fiction cautionary tale. A total of six books. So far, I’ve self published my memoir trilogy titled RAISED IN VIOLENCE: to ask why I went from good to bad to worse is to ignore from which I came. In this riveting memoir, I chronicle my life journey in the grim ghetto of New Orleans Louisiana. It’s a true account of how it is growing up in the violent slums of New Orleans. It’s an authentic story of survival, resilience, inspiration, and foremost, the power of God. I’m very proud of the fact that in spite of my turbulent past I was able to emerge from it all and be positive influence to those who are struggling with a life of crime and mental illnesses.
My companies are geared toward making a positive impact on lives through projects based on real life experiences.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
There’s so many books, and movies, but I’ll share one book: THINK & GROW RICH by Napoleon Hill. I recommend it for not just aspiring entrepreneurs but anyone who wants to change their life and change their old way of thinking.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Filming making. I’m very passionate about my craft and writing. And I have a fire inside me to make my filmmaking aspirations come to fruition. And I’m going to make it happen one way or another.
