Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Amberly Deavours. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Amberly, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?

I am passionate about Christian women making a significant amount of income as Christian life coaches. Although I have had several successful 6-figure businesses in the last 4 years, all of my lessons about business originated from my journey to overcoming bedridden depression and anxiety AND by believing that all the mom I was and was not, was THE mom God created for my (FIVE) kids. Those two experiences have shaped my ambition and purpose, and I am passionate about other women valuing their number one priorities with their families AND making a contribution to the world through coaching WHILE contributing generously to the Kingdom and their homes.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers?

After finding freedom from anxiety and depression, I discovered this hidden part of me that was an entrepreneur! My original success at creating a 6-figure online business came from a direct sales model. From there, I realized that I could not only be successful at whatever I chose to conquer, I also realized that my main passion was working with women through life coaching. I went on to create another 6-figure business through Christian life coaching and now I instruct other Christian life coaches how to do the same in my program: The Christian Life Coach Academy. I love this because I get the best of both worlds: life and business coaching. I am passionate about equipping other women to be successful in their business because this means MORE LIVES are being transformed through Christian life coaching.

The Christian Life Coach Academy is a lifetime program that has a self-paced portal to learn from, as well as, weekly LIVE coaching on any topic related to your business. We also have a private community for coaching, teaching, q+a, and on-going support.

The women in The Academy learn how to create their offer, market to clients, keep up with client information, conduct consults and more, BUT in a way that is absent of hustle and hype.

The core mission of The Christian Life Coach Academy is to create a simple, sustainable, and scalable coaching business in order to: make an impact, and an income, WHILE prioritizing Biblical influence with the ones they love most.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?

Starting my own coaching business was one of my biggest experiences of COURAGE that I have faced in my life. As a mom of 5, and after having had experienced quick, 6-figure success in a direct sales company, I was deeply compromising God’s ultimate purpose in my life. I was living in hustle, hype, and constantly concerned that my success was going to be ripped out from under me (since I wasn’t the one ultimately making the decisions). I had a huge heart to coach women in the heart and mind, but I was too afraid to go out on my own. Then I realized, if at 42, I was afraid to step out in fear into this unknown place my passion and purpose were leading, how would I speak into my 5 kids as they would need to learn to do the same.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?

When it comes to capital, funding, overhead, etc., my husband considers my on-line coaching business a “non-traditional business”. There was no initial capital in my business. However, I did spend a substantial amount of money for my coaching certification, in addition to my own personal coaching and personal development and continuing education and trainings. There was sweat equity in the form of watching on line guru’s teach on marketing and funnels and email systems. I do have small fees: zoom, a webinar platform, a CRM, software, a bookkeeper, professional coaching and personal developments and training, certifications for various things, etc., BUT all you REALLY need to start a coaching business can be FREE. You just tell people you meet and people you know what you do and who you help. You will need a coaching certification and those vary in cost. But you can easily make $100K as a life coach and spend very little money (IN and ON) your business.
