We were lucky to catch up with Stephanie Mantiply recently and have shared our conversation below.
Stephanie, appreciate you joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
The story behind our mission statement comes from me actually. I have always struggled with anxiety and social situations so being in front of the camera is very difficult. When I started my company I wanted to make sure I was creating a space for my clients to be completely comfortable. I’ve found over the years that when I create this space I’m able to create some amazing images. So, that’s how our mission statement came to be. JAM Photography’s mission will always be to create a comfortable and relaxing experience for each client during their photo session, and in turn their going to enjoy beautiful authentic images for years to come.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’ve been a photographer for over 10 years now. I photograph families, high school seniors and I do branding sessions for small businesses. I’m located in Southern Ca, and service San Diego, North County, Temecula and Riverside. My photos have been featured with online Senior Magazines. I’m so proud of my “little” business I’ve created. A little about my process with a client. My photo sessions are unique with the fact that I take time to get to know my client, what their looking for creatively, if its a Senior Session, we get to know the what hobbies, sports they like or are involved in. We then come up with outfits and location. Really getting to know someone’s interests or if it’s a small business we get to really understand the business mission, background and what they stand for, essentially their “why”. When I do this it helps me create a story through my images. Visual storytelling is my expertise.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
From the get go, creating a community of clients that felt comfortable with me and trusted me was my goal. I really think this helped with my reputation. I’m very down to earth just in general so I feel like I am very patient with my clients and am very accommodating. Now don’t get me wrong, I do have boundaries, and I had to learn that very quickly especially running my own business. With that being said, being accommodating and really delivering a great product and giving my clients an experience they enjoyed definitely helped my reputation. The majority of my business comes from recommendations from past and current clients, so I think that speaks for its self.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I think the most rewarding aspect of being a photographer, is to get feedback from clients after you deliver their gallery. I’m a super emotional person and I love looking at photographs, paintings and actually feeling some sort of emotion. I generally think most creatives are like this as well. So, when I get messages like, omg im in tears…happy tears these are beautiful. This makes me so incredibly happy, and that’s when I know I’ve done my job.
