We were lucky to catch up with Laura Kay from Pleiadian Healer recently and have shared our conversation below.
Laura, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Alright, so we’d love to hear about how you got your first client or customer. What’s the story?
I attended fairs and expos in the NYC area when I first started out. During these events I offered my energy healing services to “try out.” The energy healing sessions ran for a shorter time frame than my usual sessions. This is also how I was able to work on my first few clients and learn from the experience. While it was certainly an experience to go through and handle, I would not recommend this method if you are a newbie to energy healing or psychic services.
I quickly noticed that the wide-open, distracting layout of an expo and fair environment is a pretty challenging environment when working on your first clients. My advice would be to instead hand out larger session discounts at these fairs and to meet your resulting client in private. It can be pretty intense having everyone watch you or walk by and interrupt your service because of random questions they have in regards to what you do. This type of scenario may work well for more experienced practitioners and energy healers. For someone who is just starting out, it could be a lot to handle, especially if you don’t have a helper during those events.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Laura from Pleiadian Healer and I am a certified Shamanic Healer, Shamanic Practitioner and Intuitive Psychic. I have been building out my spiritual business consistently since 2017 and on. For a few years prior to this, I was already interested in spiritual topics and the spiritual community. Particularly the concept of lifting the veil to the unseen realm and other things going with it. Then I had a friend, who became a shaman and who did a session on me. It was a powerful experience to go through. After this, I could feel that this area of energy work may be of high interest to me. Although I went through other healing modalities first, I kept coming back to Shamanism until I decided to go through a certification program and learn from Shamans in my area.
Nowadays I offer many different types of services, including Shamanic healing sessions, Shamanic mentoring and intuitive psychic readings. Shamanism and energy work can be helpful in alleviating any energetic, mental, emotional or even physical blocks, ailments and problems you may have. I work purely with my own intuition and insight and do not work with any spirit guides or other astral entities, which often mislead people further. This sets my practice apart from many others in the field, who channel entities or rely on the insight of them and who then unknowingly cause psychic attacks onto others by doing so.
My favorite part of my business is that I get to teach others on how to find that pure connection to yourself. I believe this practice is simply not taught enough. I also strongly believe that channeling can cause a lot of damage to a person’s energy field and psyche. I have a wide selection of courses focusing on Shamanism and energy work. In one of my signature courses I teach others how to become their own shaman and healer and how to apply Shamanic healing on themselves and others in various different settings. I also teach psychic protection and how to ward off psychic attacks. In addition, the focus of my courses and classes is how to become in tune with your own intuition and how to psychically read yourself.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Being featured by other channels on podcasts, Youtube videos or other types of collaborations is a great way to get your foot in the door and gain access to a larger clientele. Early-on in my business I was fortunate enough to have a few of my videos featured on another Youtube channel, which back then had almost half a million subscribers. This was helpful in driving traffic to my website and to have session inquiries roll in. Of course paying it forward and collaborating with others is always good. If the topic material resonates with you, I would always suggest a solid collaboration with someone else (who is not your competitor), as you never know which new clients it may attract. Do not underestimate the power of word-to-mouth, as well.
However, social media is highly overrated. You do not own any of the platforms and you want to make sure you have your own site for people to find you. In times of censorship, changing algorithms and other issues, this is now truer than ever before. If you are an online business, it is therefore crucial to have a working website to which you can direct potential clients and fans to. Social media can be great for exposure but it can easily be taken away from you. You typically own your website and have more control over building a following here and I would take it more seriously than social media these days. Investing time into it is certainly worthwhile.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Being honest and upfront with who you are is important in today’s world. Nowadays there is so much fakery and people are not necessarily honest with who they are to their clients. Or they portray themselves to be different and wear a mask, which over time will always show. From the start I was always honest when conveying my message online and in-person. I never pretended to be someone else or have decades of “experience.” Instead, I learnt from the hustle the hard way. I can now convey that knowledge to you so that you don’t have to make the same mistakes I (and many others) have made in the past when building up their energy healing business (or any other type of business).
If your clients are happy with your work, they will always recommend you to their own friends, relatives or other people. This can help immensely regarding your reputation, too. However, building a business and your reputation takes time. Nothing happens overnight. Cut yourself some slack if you’ve been at this for a little while and you’re still waiting on the breakthrough. There are a million ways on how to reach your potential client and customers, The internet is unlimited.
