We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Stephanie King. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Stephanie below.
Stephanie, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with education – we’d love to hear your thoughts about how we can better prepare students for a more fulfilling life and career
I would definitely get rid of standardized testing. Some students don’t test well even though they know the material. It’s something about the word “test” that brings about a sense of nervousness and anxiousness which is understandable. Think about when you are preparing for a test at a physician’s office and the nerves you feel that ultimately affect your test results. I believe preparing students for life after school is important. If we are going to express to them the importance of getting a good education to be able to provide for themselves, we also need to equip them with information about budgeting and how to handle that kind of financial responsibility. I have noticed a growth in schools offering trade-related classes to those who choose to not attend a college/university but prefer to enhance their skills and make a living that way. We also need to embrace the different learning types of the students and try to group those students together in a class with a teacher who can accommodate that learning type, It will take “no child left behind” to a new level.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I have been a homemaker for years tending to my husband, children, and household. I started brainstorming on what I could possibly do that will not disrupt what I was currently doing. I never wanted my family to feel neglected in the process. My husband is a general contractor and suggested taking over the roofing business. I stepped out on faith and went into action by rebranding it. My company offers new roof installation, repairs, and replacement on residential and commercial properties. We also assist customers with their insurance claims because it can be overwhelming as a homeowner to deal with a claim process in the midst of experiencing a disaster. I strive to provide an awesome product and excellent customer service all while ensuring them that they are in good hands in spite of it being a woman-owned business in a male dominant industry. The end goal is to provide “Simply A Great Roof”.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source of new clients for me has been joining my neighborhood page. My neighbors are awesome. They really strive to support business owners in the neighborhood before reaching beyond the neighborhood for services.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
My most effective strategy has been advertising when I can on social media platforms and having an outstanding response time when reaching out to potential customers.
