We recently connected with Suzane Joseph and have shared our conversation below.
Suzane , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
In 2018 my life took a turn, I walked out of an abusive relationship of 12 years. And before I knew it I was starting my life over again. I was stuck in my bed severely depressed not sure what my life had for me. Imagine crying every single day for months. Coming home from a long day and having to deal with your kids who are not happy, no more money left, I am unhappy and life just looked to be a hot mess. I really started to feel disgusted with me and started to contemplate ending my life. My mind started to feel dark like there was no where else to go. There was a point in my life were I thought, being the best version of me was helping and giving everything I had emotionally and financially even if it would hinder me. Later I learned how I was self sabotaging my own life because I didn’t feel worthy enough, I didn’t know my value and the plans God has for me. I made a choice to redirect every poor choice I was continuously making and started to make choices that was conducive to my growth. Learning who Suzane was through therapy to truly become the best version of me. Here I am thriving and successfully impacting other women to take their life back through a program I created called Redirect Your Choices that helps to empower women spiritually, mentally and physically to take control of their life to see a new perspective and create positive results. It doesn’t matter who used, abuse, abandon, mistreated us. We have the power to go forward in life

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn everything I knew growing up such as being a strong black woman syndrome. I want to be a woman that seek help and support when I need it and not let pride take presendence in my life.

Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
Therapy has helped me to find balance when I start to feel overwhelmed. Having a mental check in is important to thrive through life.
