We caught up with the brilliant and insightful T’Nia Bowles a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi T’Nia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to start by getting your thoughts on what you are seeing as some the biggest trends emerging in your industry
The teeth whitening market is valued at 6.4 billion dollars and is expected to reach about 10.7 billion dollars by 2032. Teeth whitening products are widely available such as gels, toothpaste and strips. Most candidates are people with healthy gums and teeth, products are received by people with yellow teeth. As a result , there will be an increase in demand for teeth whitening products on the global market. Due to consumers knowledge of oral hygiene, teeth whitening operations are in high demand. Without removing the tooth surfaces , teeth whitening is fairly efficient technique to alter the color of the tooth but not completely but produce a lighter color of the tooth. I would recommend letting a professional perform this technique so achieve better results as we can provide the proper after care .
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I started my teeth whitening business because I wanted another form of income. I work full time and I’m a full-time college student at Wayne State so paying for college out of pocket got very expensive with little to no help. I wanted to do something that everyone can benefit from, so I decided to do teeth whitening because who doesn’t want white teeth right? I wanted more for myself because I knew I wanted to be my own boss one day and not have to work for somebody the rest of my life. My interest grew with teeth whitening when it came across it on my explore page on Instagram. At first, I was going back and forth with myself with doing it because there’s plenty for teeth whitening specialist so would there really be a point of me doing it? As time went on teeth whitening content kept coming across my timeline on Instagram and TikTok so one day I decided to take a leap in faith and take a course. On February 13, 2022 I took the course and now I’m a teeth whitening and tooth gem specialist. I told myself that I would conquer anything I put my mind to. Soon after taking the course, I had a teeth whitening specialist in Dallas, Texas reach out to me wanting to have a business meeting to help me succeed in this field. I’m beyond blessed and grateful that I listen to my intuition and took the teeth whitening course. Im so proud of myself and how much I’ve grown as a person overall because when things go tuff I didn’t give up I kept going. Now my business is slowly starting to grow and I can’t wait to see myself in the next five years. I plan in one day opening up salon somewhere in Texas and giving others an opportunity to make their dream come true. After I graduate from Wayne State I wanna look into esthetician school so I can get into facials and microbladding for eyebrows. Do you have multiple revenue streams – if so, can you talk to us about those streams and how your developed them?
Yes, my business has multiple streams of revenue. I am certified with doing lashes which I’ve been doing for two years. My anniversary is actually March 14 so ill be coming up on three years next year so im super excited . My other stream of income is doing eye brow wax , eyebrow tint and eyebrow lamination. I got certified back in April of this year. Within the next couple of months I planned on dropping my vending machine business , I secured my first location at a day care so im super excited about that ! Lastly , my next business adventure is going to be starting my first air bib business so stay tuned !
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
As a child I was told to accept every request that came my way . Now I understand that timing is everything and there will always be more opportunities down the line that may be a better fit . Last year I was offered an opportunity to travel to Chicago and I speak with a group of students and parents that heard about me and they looked up to me. I had the zoom meeting with the guy that reached out to me and he was suppose to reach out the me with follow up information and he never sent the information so I just took it as a sign that maybe it wasn’t meant for me to travel out to Chicago. Im sure one day in the future ill have the opportunity to travel and show off my work.
