Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lillee Jean. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Lillee , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
I have worked on a short drama called Miss Roxie, which has been one of the most meaningful projects of my career to date! Not only was Miss Roxie written by me, with an original storyline, but I also directed, produced, and starred in it as Roxie and Florence. Being able to emote freely and tell the stories I want to see is especially important to me as a young female actress and filmmaker! I find the entire process, from sitting at a cafe thinking about concepts and morals I hold dear, to storyboarding the sequences, to be incredibly rewarding.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Acting and film fascinated me from a young age! As part of my blog, I used to create stop-motion videos of my American Girl dolls. A major goal for me would be to film, direct, and produce the segments! Imagine, for instance, that the girls are participating in an ice skating competition. I would develop that storyline, and frame by frame have the dolls move to the particular scene I wrote! Growing up, I performed in many school plays, including one based on The Wizard of Oz and The Nutcracker. Throughout the performances, I was particularly enchanted by the combination of modern dance, jazz, and storytelling. This passion has driven me throughout my career, and, has led me to now, as a young actress honing my craft in several acting classes pursuing my dreams. I currently am studying the Meisner Technique!

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
As an actress, my goal is to be as captivating as possible on the big screen. Due to my background as a filmmaker, I know how things look, and how the camera can catch every little emotion. I am committed to continuing my training! I have found the Meisner Technique to be very eye-opening and very interesting to learn.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I consider myself to be a very resilient woman. Being a woman in the film industry is a statement in itself. Having the ability to direct, produce, and guide one’s own path is an indication of independence. Women such as Marilyn Monroe, Mary Pickford, and Lucille Ball paved the way with their own production companies. While I myself experienced online stalking as a teenager, pulling myself off social media was the best thing I ever did. It allowed me to go back to my initial love of acting and filmmaking! The endurance I have developed is something that I carry with me today. I am now able to create and produce my own films, something I would not have been able to do without the pioneering women before me. I am so grateful for the opportunities they have created for me.
