Every once in a while we have the good fortune of working on a project that we feel truly matters, a project that we’ll still be thinking about years from now. Maybe even something we can imagine telling our grandkids about – surely you’ve had moments like that where something you did in your professional life really mattered?

This one is kind of a two parter for me. The most meaningful project I’ve ever worked on was a record I mixed in December 2021 for a band called The Late Heavy. To understand why working with The Late Heavy was so important we need to go back to 2015 to another watershed record for me. In the fall of 2015 I was living in Nashville and working as a second engineer for Grammy Award winning Producer/Engineer Jacquire King. Read more>>

The most recent meaningful cosplay that I’ve worked on was based on an original design by the artist Cowslip. Cowslip is known for designing human versions of Pokemon and I chose to make their Ninetales design. Ninetales is basically a pale golden-white fox with nine tails with mystical fire powers and based on the Asian mythological creature called the huli-jing or kitsune. In mythology, kitsune are known to take the form of a beautiful woman and steal the souls of men that they had enchanted with their charms. Read more>>

I have a few in mind. During my final year of college for my Capstone course, I created a poetry manuscript, consisting of 15 poems. It was in dedication to one of my greatest friend’s, whom I loved dearly, that had passed unexpectedly in 2019. The manuscript was incredibly difficult to finish, as each time I had approached it felt as though I were reliving some of the worst moments, but I knew I had to in order to honor him in the best way I knew how. Without him, I likely would have never continued my journey of becoming a writer, and he was one of the first people that actually made me feel like I could do it. Through countless workshops over the course of a year, I was finally able to produce poems that I felt captured the way that I knew him. Read more>>

The most meaningful project that I worked on was my most recent project. I got to create with a past neighbor, now friend Chanel. We’ve worked on other past projects from even capturing her engagement photos, a Miami fruit collab, and some fun in nature. This time we found ourselves on the big island of Hawaii, where I had been staying for over 6 months in an off-grid community in the jungle. Read more>>

Its very hard to choose a project that is the MOST meaningful. I guess that first that comes to mind is a short film that i have yet to release, And Then There Were Four. this was shot in the span of 48hrs with a group of friends and a budget of 5$. With this project i really just wanted to have some fun and have that translate on screen. And Then There Were Four, is a horror comedy about a group of girlfriends who are on a weekend trip when they get an unexpected visitor. I am super proud of this little film, so proud i have yet to release it. You can expect to see it August 2022. Read more>>

The main theme of my practice is tracing the invisible thread that braids us together; I do it through a daily braiding ritual that is about letting go from the hair, and then braiding with intention. My daily intention has always been about helping another woman rise in some way that aligns to her purpose. It has evolved into braiding circles of humans bringing to life a visual of interconnectivity and interdependence. Read more>>

The most meaningful project I ever worked on was a watercolor illustration I created around the brutal death of George Floyd, an unarmed African American man killed while in the custody of the Minneapolis Police. This incident which the majority of the world witnessed happened in 2020, right during the height of the Covid 19 Pandemic. I absolutely couldn’t believe what I was witnessing happening live on TV. I was stunned, heartbroken, furious, and completely helpless. Read more>>

One of the most meaningful projects that I have undertaken as an artist and a curator is a collective arts series that is presented digitally each year, during the months of December-January to audiences across the globe. The series encompasses classical music, classical dance, traditional treasures and other topics centered around ethnicity and culture. With the blessings of my Guru, Read more>>

Sophomore year of high school, I enrolled in an Entrepreneurship class. We were tasked with creating a business that would be competing in a national “shark-tank-like” competition. Earlier that year, I was at a high school convention and a speaker played a game where they asked everyone to raise their phone light if the statement resonated with them. It started with basic questions, such as “raise your light if you have been to a high school party. Raise your light if you have had a falling out with a friend.” Then, it got a little more serious when she asked us to raise our light if we have ever considered suicide. In a gym of over 500 high school students, every single person had their lights up. Read more>>

For most of my life, my father was an addict. He was both absent and present in my life. I watched him repeatedly choose drugs and alcohol over family. During the times he was present I would try keeping him afloat by bailing water out of his sinking ship, always to be followed by him pouring more back in. This was my role for 24 years, which is the age I realized my efforts would always be futile. 4 years later he lost his battle. Read more>>

Rethinking the future of retail for the big-box electronic supplier, Best Buy has been a meaningful project that I had the opportunity to work on. Partnering with a top creative agency to strategize a seamless customer journey within an immersive environment where product trial and play is not only encouraged but essential. I found this project enjoyable as we were urged to dream big and think holistically about the space users’ experience. Read more>>

My final year series at university was one of my most meaningful projects; it marked a moment of personal maturity where my art moved from being a collection of pieces searching to please others to a reflection of my inner dialogue conversing with my critical observations around the world and life. The series was entitled ‘A comment on 20th Century architecture’. Read more>>

One of the most meaningful projects I’ve been working on is still ongoing. It is a series of high-concept fashion photo shoots in collaboration with an extraordinary fashion designer (Galina Mihaleva). I met this designer at an event in 2007 in which a series of her pieces were in a fashion show in Phoenix. I was mesmerized by these works of art and became very inspired. I subsequently introduced myself to her and the rest was history. Read more>>

The majority of my work is pretty meaningful to me because most of my signs are made from notes that were written by someone who has passed away. The customers are usually very moved by the final product which makes my heart happy knowing that I could create something special for someone, especially during a time of grief. For me personally, the most meaningful project I did was gifting a handful of signs for a friends family for Christmas. Read more>>

The most meaningful project I have worked on continues to this day. The impetus started slowly in the 1960’s. Photography can be a very intrusive process and overcoming the fears necessary to succeed can take a long time. What I am referring to is capturing the interaction of people living their daily lives. Street Photography as some may call it. Read more>>

The most meaningful project I’ve worked on is GIRLS OF FLIGHT CITY. It is inspired by true events, British pilots being trained in Terrell, TX during WWII. It was a very personal story because my dad graduated from Terrell in 1935. My mom was a young girl in Watford, England, near London as bombs fell. I have always enjoyed working both my heritages into my stories, but this one just felt especially poignant. Read more>>

A few years ago I became the world’s first blind muralist after completing a mural in New York in celebration of world sight day. I had been contacted by a multi-national film crew that had been hired to film something to help raise disability awareness and celebrate world sight day, and they wondered if I would be able to paint a mural for them. I told them I could and we picked New York to be the city I’d do it in; after getting off of the phone I wondered how in the world I would ever be able to paint a mural. Read more>>

In 2019, I found myself out of ideas for my upcoming thesis review during my senior year in college. I knew I needed to create artwork that had purpose and represented the overall scope of my work. During this time, my grandmother was going through the early stages of dementia, and while she was relatively independent, her children and grandchildren would visit her more often to assist her. While spending more time with her, I became inspired by her rebellion against the disease and the strength she exuded. Read more>>

The most meaningful project I’ve worked on would be one of my most recent creations titled “Let the Paint Dry” that I completed earlier this year. It is a vibrant, multi-colored painting of a woman’s body on a 24″ x 36″ canvas panel with a resin finish. While I was watching a TED talk one morning of an artist explaining his art, he mentioned his mentor stating “Man, you just don’t let the paint dry” while he was creating a piece of artwork and letting the colors mix. When I heard that, I instantly started thinking to myself, sometimes we don’t let the paint dry in life, and by that, I mean we sometimes don’t allow things to process. Read more>>

Three Words. Forged In Fire. This piece is one of a kind to me because it served as a way of reminding myself that I have a purpose. God brought me out of a difficult season, but in order to triumph I had to be put to the test. I had to go through the fire. Forged in Fire. Going through hard circumstances & tribulations can steal your purpose from you if you let it. Staying grounded & close to God has brought me much peace & guidance. Read more>>

One of my most meaningful projects was an 80th birthday that I captured a couple of years ago. There were 4 generations of family members there and it was just so beautiful to see all of them together, knowing that because I was there to capture them that they would have this moment for the rest of their lives. The family was so appreciative of the final project and for the first time doing video, I felt like it really mattered. I was able to capture joy, memories, and love that they would be able to feel and watch whenever they wanted and always be in that moment. Read more>>

I have many meaningful projects since my tagline is , “when you need it to BEE meaningful”. In my designs I do a variety of artisan angels. A client was diagnosed with Uterine cancer and was having surgery in a few weeks. Read more>>

Very early on in my art and teaching career, I worked on the most meaningful project that reassured me I was on the right career path. Our new record Betty Ford Club has been a big deal for us to work on. The songs are all about our mistakes and flaws and how we grew from them, and it all comes from such a personal place that it’s been cathartic to write them and work them out at practice and onstage. This is our most honest record so far and we can’t wait to release it! Read more>>

Our most meaningful project is the one we are currently working on, which is our first studio album as a band. We have been playing together for 3 years now. As many independent artists in this day and age can attest to, the Internet is a vital tool in getting a music career off the ground. I was able to find a fanbase from sites like Youtube and Instagram, and grow that into a career. In January 2020, on paper I was at the peak of my life. I was making plenty off of the streams and sales of my songs, just bought a house, a car, and had just gotten back from playing a show in Egypt where fans knew the words to my songs. And yet, I was the most miserable I had ever been, at rock bottom… Read more>>

This is a great question as there’s a number of projects I’ve worked on through the realm of an author, speaker, host, press/media consultant, and educator. Arguably, the most meaningful project that comes to mind took place in 2017 when I did a book signing at the Malloy-Jordan Library in Winston-Salem, NC. The venue is located in East Winston and is named after the first African-American doctors in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County area. Read more>>
