Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jane Goodrich. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jane, appreciate you joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I’ve been a photographer for over a decade and have seen firsthand the issues in the industry that need to be solved. It became even more apparent during Covid that photographers need support, a voice in our industry, and an easy way to run their business. Adding to this is the fact that many photographers struggle to make a livable wage. All of this is what inspired me to create Picsello. My mission is to transform the industry so photographers are supported and successful.
There is a substantial need for what Picsello brings to photographers and the industry overall. Our software helps photographers streamline their workflow, we offer education and support around how to correctly price your services, as well as information and support on how to start, grow, and market your business.
It is so common now, especially with social media, to see so much misinformation circulating- photographers can easily get off on the wrong foot. Picsello helps photographers build a solid foundation so they can create a sustainable business that they love.
Our support of photographers and dedication to their success is what sets us apart from other photography business software. We really “get” the photographer’s experience, and this comes through in every aspect of Picsello. We offer personal support at every point of the photographer’s journey. Our blog is packed with education, and our mastermind helps photographers grow their businesses with expert lives and community building. Our software gives photographers all the tools they need to run their businesses with one simple plan.
There is a lot of backend work that goes into being a photographer and we aim to help our users streamline the business parts so they can do more of what they love.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
i think transparency and commitment to my mission is what really builds reputation. I started Picsello to help photographers start and run profitable and sustainable businesses, and there is nothing I am more passionate about. I think this comes through in my personal conversations with photographers, as well as in my education ventures.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
I would say there are certain things you can do to get more clients on a regular basis and a mix of strategies is the best bet, don’t put all of your eggs in one basket. Creating a sense of urgency in your messaging on social media, using whatever season or trends are happening at the moment to your advantage, getting back in touch with old clients or people who have shown interest in your business in the past, and creating and nurturing an email list are all great ways to get more clients consistently,
