Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ronnie Wilson . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Ronnie , thanks for joining us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
My grandmother who passed alway in 1992 came in my dreams in 2015. She told me that my business name would be 84 Grand. I just ran with it from there.
Ronnie , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
When I was 18 I wanted to get into the wine industry. I went to my college counselor and he told me that I should choose something logical like nursing or law enforcement. Years later my grandmother came in my dream and gave me business name. I ran with it from there. 2015 I went back to school and my interest peaked back up. In 2019 I taught myself how to make and bottle wine. This wine industry is tough because black women make up 1% in the industry. So you have to bring your A game. I’m very proud because I’m showing my children that no matter how start in life you can achieve anything. I went back to college and graduated with a bachelors in business. Also started a wine business. You can do anything you set your mind to.
How’d you meet your business partner?
My oldest child was younger when I started. As he got older I started showing him the ways of the business so he could learn the in’s and out’s of it. We are still learning together on how to grow the businesses.
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
Funding this business was and still is tough. Working a regular 9-5 to fund my wine business. Also my family has been the best with helping with any needs. Through it all my business is still thriving.
