Alright, Samantha thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?

I have had this dream forever. The dream of starting my own business with my art. The ideas really came together when I found my personal spiritual path back in 2017. I would spend most nights sketching ideas or talking things out with my friends. Due to life circumstances I never felt it was an appropriate time to pull the trigger but, this is the year I decided to launch and my first outdoor event was very successful! Seeing customers gleam over my oddities just made my heart soar! I’m very fortunate at this time to be able to take this time to hone my art and skills to be able to offer the best to my customers.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

Hello! My name is Sam and I’m the owner of Blackcat Witchcraft and Oddities LLC and I sell oddities from bone jewelry, mystical wreaths, terrariums with preserved bugs, manifestation candles and various other metaphysical goods and oddities. I also offer personalized tarot readings as well. My business just launched in 2023 and so far I’ve been successful at outdoor events and custom commissions.
My products appeal to not only the spiritual looking to deepen their own spiritual path but, even just customers looking to add to their macabre collections.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?

Even though this is our first official year open. I’ve had many personal setbacks this year from personal to financial. Unfortunately since we are a new business all profits go straight back into the business so I do work full time and also run the business. I am very appreciative of all of our customers being patient at this time. From having to reschedule a tarot consultation to pushing back a commission date our customers have been very understanding thank you.

Have you ever had to pivot?

I used to work full time in a dead end corporate job. Always dreaming and thinking of opening my business. One day I took the leap of faith and figured things would work out.. but I learned the hard way that until my business generates enough daily revenue I still have to work full time but now I do it to fund my business and help it elevate to new heights!
