Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Naeomi Samuel. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Naeomi, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?

Destined 2 Educate (D2E), is a holistic learner-centered experience that offers authentic and innovative educational services to all learners. It is our mission to “Transform Knowledge Beyond Limits.”

The story behind our mission started in 2008 when I served as an Extended Day Instructor at a DC Public Charter School during my junior and senior years of my undergraduate studies at The University of Maryland-College Park. I connected with the students in a way that empowered them to go beyond the basic requirements of their learning experience and to push the limits on what they could achieve. I experienced positive behavior changes, improved grades, better communication and respect amongst their peers and instructors.

At the beginning of 2015, I was asked to provide private tutoring for a sibling of one of my former students who needed some additional support in reading. In a span of a few months, I noticed a significant increase in her confidence and her ability to read which in turn increased her comprehension ability. Her mother saw a significant shift as well. It was then that I realized that private tutoring was an effective extension of my gift as an educator. My father encouraged me to turn my passion into additional profit and on June 19, 2015, Destined 2 Educate, LLC was formed and began to flourish!

Naeomi, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

My passion for education is truly a gift from God! Growing up, I always loved school and learning. This love was cultivated well because my parents believed and still believe in the power of education. They encouraged my sister and I to do well in school. From elementary school to graduate school, I have built genuine relationships with my teachers, some of whom I am still connected to. I am forever grateful for their lasting impact on my life.

If someone told me I would be an authentic educator and entrepreneur aka edupreneur, I would not have believed them. It is an honor to say that I have served in the field of education for 14 years. I have fulfilled several positions that fortified my journey– Lead Teacher, After School Program Manager and Summer School Principal. I have also worked in various sectors in the field of education–public charter, private and homeschooling. All of these positions provided progressive reciprocity between my students and I. Destined 2 Educate, LLC was developed through these positions and continues to flourish as I enter year 15.

Our services include but are not limited to Academic Intervention & Enrichment, Education Consulting and Health Education. We provide individualized intervention and enrichment using a multimedia approach, where the incorporation of various mediums makes the teaching-learning experience more effective and meaningful. One-on-one, small group (2-10 learners), and whole group (11-20 learners) experiences are available.

Each experience is tailored to the learner’s needs in English Language Arts, Literacy, Math, Social Studies, Science, Writing, and Foreign Languages. The foundation of each learner’s experience is built on empowering them to believe that they are intelligent and capable of overcoming any challenge in any subject. This empowerment ignites their desire to truly invest in their own academic growth and development.

D2E also provides health education services for individuals who desire to improve their overall health and well-being. Our health education services include and are not limited to lessons and learning experiences to educate and empower individuals to achieve health goals and objectives, meal planning and prepping.

This fall, we are taking our education consulting to a new level. We will implement tailored workshops to continue to assist families with educational planning for their children (i.e., college and career readiness, transitioning between public and private schools, transitioning to and from homeschooling, etc). In addition, we will mentor new teachers as they navigate their first year as full-time lead teachers.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?

Word of Mouth about who I am as an educator and what I provide to learners has been the greatest blessing and contributor to the growth of Destined 2 Educate, LLC. In addition to Word of Mouth, Social Media (i.e. Destined 2 Educate’s website, Facebook and Instagram) has allowed us to continue to expand our reach to learners in need. Social Media has allowed me to showcase our experiences with learners. In addition, it has challenged me to be more intentional about how I curate the presentation of the work that we do.

How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?

Destined 2 Educate is more than an organization, it is a gift from God that this world needs. Furthermore, every new client that I serve is a gift that I am grateful to receive. Uniquely created gifts that I commit to, care for and cherish in every encounter and experience we have. I create and cultivate a consistent line of communication coupled with transparency in regards to clients’ growth and development. Whether clients receive services for one quarter, a semester or two days, I take pride in staying connected to them for the duration of services and after. It brings me great joy to text or call families of clients to check in on them and receive great news about their development, academically and socially as a result of the work we have done. Ultimately, this has been one of the greatest contributions to our growth and sustainability.
