We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Stephanie & Jessica Kheder & Gallup. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Stephanie & Jessica below.
Stephanie & Jessica, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What was it like going from idea to execution? Can you share some of the backstory and some of the major steps or milestones?
We were sitting around talking about how we needed something that was just for us and not creating ideas for other people. Around that time tarot, crystals, and the metaphysical were beginning to trend, this was pre-pandemic. We just went for it. We came up with a name, we chose Coven and Cloche because it was a play on witchcraft, sisterhood, community, and cloche being the all encompassing protection and growth but also encapsulating a visual of how we like to collect and display objects of art, beauty, and metaphysics, myth and lore, and a little of bit of inner child healing.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
We are excellent at curating and sourcing and conceptualizing ideas that we would want to give or receive as gifts to and from loved ones. Products and affirmations that are useful protective soothing to the body the mind the soul and spiritual healing. We also believe there are no rules in art, in making; if we like it, we buy it. We believe in healing crystals, plant medicine, spiritual guidance, rituals, effectively creating a space and an environment that generates creativity and spirituality because we believe that those to things go hand in hand. For all people, everyone, everywhere, and all beliefs. What sets us apart is we aren’t super literal we don’t take ourselves too seriously we are imaginative and well versed in many mediums and outlets of design and creativity which helps us to come up with ideas for what would be good to put in our shop and would make our customers happy and inspired. Also, we are hoarders. We like everything, but not.
Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
We met in 2010 ish working together for a jewelry brand on the creative team and quickly realized we had the same dark sense of art and humor. A love of the macabre, luxury goods, beautiful cabinets of curiosities and collecting and art. We left the jobs after some time and life always steers in different directions but we always came back to each other.
Can you share one of your favorite marketing or sales stories?
For all the amazing products we carry and photography we share we didn’t except that our lifestyle memes would be the marketing that would gain the most attention but then again we do interject our humor into most everything we do so it turns out people love our messaging. We first realized this on Father’s Day when we posted a picture of Kirsten Dunst and Tom Cruise from Interview with a Vampire and it received a lot of engagement. We also came up with a self care affirmation to Drink More Water and Clean Your Bong which has lead to a lot of response and the development of our new all natural glass pipe and bong cleaner, named Virtuous Bong.
