We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Chloe Clemente a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Chloe, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I’ve always wanted to pursue music, I’ve been singing since I was little and even told my mom “I wanna be a rock star”. At age 10 I began vocal lessons with coach Billy Purnell who has trained artists like Tori Kelly, Keke Palmer, and more. Now as an adult I feel I’m living my dream! It took a lot of hard work and it is rough sometimes, but my love for performing and writing has fully taken over my life. I enjoy being able to share my thoughts through music and I feel like it forms a connection to the listener in a way that can only be formed by truly hanging out with me one on one.
Chloe, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My next release “Not Good with Words” comes out August 29th and will be available on all major streaming platforms. I wrote it about having nothing left to lose and in turn losing yourself in anger. It was in 2020 in the lock down that I got the chords, melody, and lyrics written in one night. I was in college and had finals, the world was crazy due to the pandemic, and I didn’t know what was going to happen to the music industry. It was fun getting to write it and really helped me to express the frustrations that I was feeling at the time, I still have so much fun playing it.
Moving forward I’m focused on releasing music, playing shows, and growing my fanbase!
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
The best thing people can do is listen and share, especially now since the market is so saturated we would love to be on your playlists. We also need people to follow us on social media, music platforms, etc. most of which are free to support us on! Another way to support us is to come to shows, as an artist who loves to play I can say this helps us so much. Wearing our merch is also an amazing way to show us your support!
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I’d say its inspiring others, if I can inspire someone to start writing, singing, performing, etc. I feel I’ve done my job. It is extremely rewarding getting to put out music and meet my personal goals, but seeing how it effects my students, friends, family, and other creatives/musicians is just mind-blowing! If I can inspire someone to take the first step in their creative work its truly special to me.
