We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Brenda Ingraham. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Brenda below.
Alright, Brenda thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start with a fun one – what’s something you believe that most people in your industry (or in general) disagree with?
The one vice I have for the film industry is their need to use such foul language. I am especially offended by the F word.and GD.
The Director of one Film asked me to find a female thief. My friend came to me and said the F word was in her scene seven or eight times and that she could not say that word. She told the Director. she could not use that word to which he said it was all right, but she needed to be very forceful in how she acted. In another scene, the actor was on the phone and used that word so many times. I was praying that God would work something out. The Director changed his mind and told him not to be on the phone, but to act happy and proud of himself. That’s two scenes we were able to get the F word out. I’m very happy about that!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I have been in Ministry since the 80s but when I moved to Florida to be near my family, God put me in the film industry. It has been hard, but I’m seeing good things come about. We started Just Muse Productions as a woman owned production company producing family friendly films. I encourage everyone that I speak with to stay true to who they are. It’s important to not be forced to do something that goes against your beliefs… never compromise!

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I am a woman of my word. If I commit, then I will see it through. I encourage and help others as much as possible. I’ve filmed and helped behind the scenes for many films without pay. I did this to learn more about the industry and to make great connections. Integrity is the most important key for any business. Once you lose your integrity, you can kiss your business goodbye.

How’d you meet your business partner?
I met JP at a meet and greet for our industry. She is a writer and has the same values I do. That’s when we decided to create a woman owned production company To produce family friendly films that everyone can watch.
