We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ace Currie-Clay. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ace below.
Ace, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Looking back on your career, have you ever worked with a great leader or boss? We’d love to hear about the experience and what you think made them such a great leader.
The best boss I’ve ever had was myself. Living as an entrepreneur or creative can be extremely hard. It has truly been a full eye-opening journey thus far. You are your own toughest critic. Sometimes you want to even shy away from holding yourself accountable but eventually through patience & love you work yourself through it. Eventually that shows in your artwork, then it will seep into the public. You become an inspiration & motivation to others from this “work” that you are doing externally & internally. It is a truly fulfilling experience.
Ace, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am truly a creative. I specifically; commercial model, professionally dance & crochet design. Luckily in all these aspects I am able to explore; acting while modeling, artist development & directing while dancing, & truly being imaginative while designing. My CreACEions are ideas come to life through a personal perspective. This leaves open the opportunity for a wide range of projects & keeps me on my toes! For those looking to try something new and creative, who need a push in the right direction, rather that be in terms of wardrobe to event entertainment, to creative direction – I am the one for you.
One thing that I am extremely proud of is my annual community service project; Headbadns 4 The Homeless. Where I use any extra materials from previous custom crochet orders to make headbands for those in need. We also collect donations (monetary & physical) to create care packages in addition to the headbands. Whether it’s rain, snow, or shine since 2018 I have gathered volunteers to travel through cities to hand deliver these care packages. It is extremely important to me that no matter where I am in any aspect of life or business that I am still being of service & light to others.
I would love the opportunity to collaborate with more creatives in my area for photoshoots, videos, events, skits, etc.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Truly appreciate what art means to the public. Sometimes people think of entertainment or art as a distraction or being childlike. That it is not a “true” career and definitely a not anything you should bet your life financials on. I think we should all remember music, dance, design, art are a huge factor in how the world around us moves. Music & images affect your emotions. Art and dance are ways to express those emotions when you do not have the words. Look at how advanced technology moved once it was in color. Once we appreciate art & artists for who they are & what they do *while they are alive to receive it* I believe that will be a step in the right direction of thriving creatives. Which can inevitably be a beautiful impact on our future generations & how they problem solve from a creative perspective.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Overall, I want to be the reason some child or adult kept going. I want the general public to be okay with trying and failing (and even letting those failures be known publicly). My goal is to inspire as many timid, scared, self conscious as possible into taking that first step out of their comfort zone. I am a perfect example of how this journey is not linear nor fair but we keep going. The only true end goal is to spread the word of a continuous journey called persistence while enjoying each moment of it.
