Hi The Makeup M.O.B.B., thanks for joining us today. Let’s jump back to the first dollar you earned as a creative? What can you share with us about how it happened?

The Makeup M.O.B.B. (Moguls of the Beauty Business), is comprised of a group of professional full & part-time makeup artists, hairstylists, creative directors, estheticians, and licensed cosmetologists. The majority of the artists signed to the agency share one basic commonality; knowing early on in life that they wanted to pursue a career in the beauty industry.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

Our agency, The Makeup M.O.B.B., was founded by our CEO Hana Ali; 7x award-winning celebrity makeup artist, author, and educator. As her brand grew, Hana saw a need to share in that growth by creating job opportunities for other makeup artists while building a team of talented professionals. As a non-exclusive agency, what makes The Makeup M.O.B.B. different from others is the ongoing support the agency offers its artists from business development classes, to continuing education workshops focused on enhancing the skills of each individual artist.

We are an Atlanta-based agency currently with a total of 14 artists. We offer an array of beauty services from makeup, hairstyling, wardrobe styling, creative direction,, classes, and more.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?

One of the most rewarding aspects of being a beauty professional is the ability to boost someone’s confidence and self-esteem. We have the power to enhance our clients’ natural beauty, helping them feel more beautiful and self-assured. The transformative effect of great hair, makeup, and wardrobe can instill a sense of empowerment and positivity in the individuals we work with, making them feel ready to take on the world.

Additionally, we often play a crucial role in special occasions such as weddings, graduations, and photo shoots. Being a part of these significant moments in people’s lives allows us to create lasting memories and contribute to the joy and happiness of our clients.

Moreover, the opportunity to express creativity is another rewarding aspect. Makeup artistry, hairstyling, clothing design, etc. is an art form, and being able to use one’s skills and imagination to create unique looks can be incredibly fulfilling. The constant evolution of beauty trends and techniques keeps the job dynamic and exciting, allowing us to continue learning and growing in our craft.

Overall, the ability to make a positive impact on others’ lives, combined with the creative outlet the beauty industry provides, makes it a deeply fulfilling and rewarding profession for many creatives.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?

One of the primary goals of a beauty professional during the creative journey is to continually improve our skills and expand our artistic repertoire. We strive to grow and evolve in our craft by learning new techniques, staying updated with the latest trends, and experimenting with various makeup, hair, and wardrobe styles.

Additionally, our agency is aiming to build a strong and diverse portfolio that showcases our versatility and expertise. A well-curated portfolio allows us to demonstrate our capabilities to potential clients, employers, or collaborators.

Building a professional network is also crucial. Connecting with fellow makeup artists, photographers, stylists, and industry professionals can open doors to new opportunities and collaborations, further enriching our creative journey.

Ultimately, the goal of a each artist in The Makeup M.O.B.B. is to achieve personal fulfillment through art, while also making a positive impact on the people we work with and the beauty and fashion industry as a whole.
