We recently connected with Quadria Freeman and have shared our conversation below.
Quadria, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
In 2019, I went through a significant loss of a family member that was dear to me, along with losing him I lost my job at the same time. After losing both, I started thinking of different ways to make another source of income. I’ve always been HUGE on making a fashion statement and feeling BOLD and CONFIDENT when I step out the house; so I thought what better way to be stylish than to wear different styles of eye wear and swimsuits. FramedByQ’: The Collection is made for anybody everywhere to feel fierce and fearless; ‘Framed’ essentially came from “body frame” and eyewear. Q’ is me, who I am confident and fearless, someone, who walks into a room and owns it. That’s how I want every customer to feel when they purchase from my business.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
FramedByQ’: The Collection is a fierce eyewear, swimwear and accessories line. This collection is essentially made for everyone to feel bold & confident when they step out into the world in their frames & swimwear. FramedByQ’: The Collection is more than a brand. It is a lifestyle, a moment. This collection is made for anybody anywhere to feel more confident than ever before. We offer fast shipping and handling, quality products that are long-lasting, and great quality customer service. This business has connected me to a lot of amazing people, I get a lot of recommendations from others in other countries, states, and I could not be more proud.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing your clientele is promote. Promote, promote, and I cannot stress this enough PROMOTE. Even when you think some one is not watching, there is ALWAYS someone watching you. Being a vendor at different pop up events and also passing out business cards everywhere. I always take my business cards and wear my merchandise whenever I’m on vacation or even on a casual day, I’m always promoting myself and my business somehow some way because that will build a bigger clientele by taking a bigger risk and putting yourself out there for the world to see.

We’d love to hear your thoughts about selling platforms like Amazon/Etsy vs selling on your own site.
I have my own website on Shopify called https://framedbyq-the-collection.myshopify.com/. It has been super easy for me to keep track of my inventory, reoccurring customers as well as new ones. I’m able to see my statistics and how much revenue I’m bringing into the business. We are looking to advance on different platforms such as Amazon and Etsy which will be coming later this summer/fall.
