We were lucky to catch up with TJ Burrowes recently and have shared our conversation below.
TJ , appreciate you joining us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
I think, funny enough, my life is ran off of risk taking. It’s nothing that I have achieved thus far, without taking some type of risk to get whatever it was I wanted.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My introduction to talent management was a two way street, but through the legendary hip hop pioneer, Keith Murray. He saw something in me from the impact I had with my platform, on the music scene in my hometown of Long Island and wanted to just teach me the essentials of what I needed to know to be successful in this business.
I’m regards to acting management, I would have to give that to my best friend Wavyy Jonez, a very well established actor/ musician from my hometown as well. Wavyy taught me the ins and outs of the film and TV industry and even introduced me to my first client, Tremaine Brown Jr.
So my company focuses on not only the substance of which we put out, but the development of that substance. Especially working in the film industry, it’s a very long and drawn out process, there are so many moving parts to what’s going on but we are blessed to work with companies such as Paradigm agency, who give of a sense of peace knowing that we are not alone on this journey.
What sets me and my company apart from the rest? I can’t really say, only because I don’t necessarily care about what the rest is doing. More power to everyone that wants something more in life, but all I know is that for me, I believe so much in my clients that I could never take “no” for an answer, or there would never be a time where I’m not working on something, trying to make something happen.
I think what I’m most proud of as of recent, is first getting to work with the whole Flatbush Misdemeanors production on showtime and secondly getting to work with the legendary producer Ron Browz, on upcoming projects. The job is not done though, but definitely are some stepping stones I loved walking up.
To all people that support me, I just want them to know that I appreciate there support and for staying locked in with me on this journey. It’s going to get much greater later.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I would say the biggest thing that fuels my hunger, are the people that I’ve lost within the past year. This year was very tough for me, with the passing of some close family/ friends but make me want it even more knowing that they won’t have the opportunity to do what they wanted to do anymore.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Just be yourself, stay true to you.
