We recently connected with Alyssa Carriere’ and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Alyssa thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Was there a moment in your career that meaningfully altered your trajectory? If so, we’d love to hear the backstory.
August 19 2021 was a defining moment for me in my cosmetology career. Determined to expand my knowledge on Color Theory with Wella Professionals.
I did it, I became an official Wella Master colorist.
Countless changes to classes due to covid, countless hours of studying, a written exam as well as a practical exam.
I now call my self a Master Colorist. Not because I know everything about hair but because I have a better understanding of what I do and how I approach hair color.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Hey guys Alyssa carriere’ here licensed cosmetologist and Wella Master colorist.
Ever since I can remember hair was always a passion of mine. I was that girl doing her teammates hair for Drill Team Competitions. Also the only friends whose Barbie’s still looked brand new, hair and all. After High School I went strait into cosmetology School.
Five years into my Cosmetology Career I wanted to pursue my passion for color by becoming a Master Colorist with Wella Professionals. A Master Colorist is someone who goes through extensive training starting with your prerequisites followed with detailed classes over color theory, color correction and even product ingredients,. Finally it ends with a written and practical exam.
After countless changes to classes due to covid, and countless hours of studying, August 19 2021 was the day I finally got to call myself a Master Colorist.
Color and Hair integrity are my specialty. From all over color, highlights or balayage. I love to create a look that compliments you best, as well as give you tips and tricks to maintain the look at home.
Whether you’re new to my story or have been with me for a while I appreciate each and every one of you. I would love to have you with me on this journey, as I continuously grow personally and professionally.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
For me, the most effective way of growing my clientele is.
Number one would be referrals. Word of mouth is not only the best complement you can give a stylist but also the strength of building a brand and business.
Next would be social media. Whether it’s Instagram, Facebook groups , or TikTok. Reaching a demographic beyond word of mouth is also extremely helpful.
Do you think you’d choose a different profession or specialty if you were starting now?
If I could go back in time, I would absolutely choose the same profession and specialty. Getting to connect with beautiful souls day in and day out. As well as giving hair transformations is a true joy.
