We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Logan Samuels a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Logan, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Do you manage your own social media?
I manage my own social media sites! I decided to manage it myself from the beginning of starting my business. I like things to be attractive and organized. If i did not run it myself I would be concerned about how it looks constantly, including the feed and posts itself. Running my own social media has been working positively for me. I love reading the insights of how many people have reached my posts, how many shares and follows i receive. If there are any other business thinking about running a social media page, I would highly recommend it! It helps reach a wider audience and you can share any ideas you may have. A helpful tip would also be to use hashtags and add your location to posts. Use hashtags that are relevant to your products or services and for your location it doesn’t have to be a pin pointed location, but just the city you’re located in!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hello! My name is Logan Samuels and I am the owner of Loggie’s Sweets and Treats. I started Loggie’s in January 2021. My business is based on sweets and desserts. I recently graduated from Cuyahoga Community College with a Professional Baking Certificate! Ever since I was a child I enjoyed baking. I grew up helping my grandmother cook and make treats from scratch. One of my favorites treats to make would be Kolaczkis! It is a Polish cookie made with cream cheese or fruit fillings. In addition to this, my grandmother taught me cake decorating skills at a young age. Without her I don’t think I would be as passionate about baking as I am today. When customers order, I allow customization which I believe that sets me apart from other people in my industry.

How did you build your audience on social media?

Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
When I first had the idea to start my business, I was struggling on how to make it work financially. I was working at target part-time, as well as cooking part time. I thought it would be difficult to purchase everything that would be needed on top of paying my personal bills. Working both of those jobs helped me tremendously, saving money to purchase the starter items i needed. After saving a certain amount i was able to get ahead and my business started paying for itself with my new orders!
