We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Dora Chu a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Dora, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.

My team has an amazing comedy/wellness project in development on the west coast, and i have spectacular team members to thank❗️

The project focuses on uplifting our self-talk.
Our initial reactions to situations, people, and issues are powerful, and it’s easy to jump to negative conclusions about ourselves or others, assign blame unfairly, or make hasty judgments.
These pesky reactions influence “what we tell ourselves”, and negative self-talk can impact our lives far into the future.
By actively UPshifting, we actively chose to UPlift our self-talk to a positive perspective.

UPshifting means consciously UPlifting my self-talk and perspective, past and present.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

DoraSpectacular is a comedic personality, fashion maven, and Motivational Personality all rolled into one.

Her unique blend of quirkiness, humor, a fabulous frock, and sincere inspiration is a recipe for feeling good❗️.

When Dora was asked to conduct her first ever interviews at a star studded Dallas event, she did want to hide behind her dress. Alas, the dress was too slinky… she had to put herself on the line. And, it went wonderfully! Dora has “worn” her most distinctive accessory – her zany character-to interview fashionable personalities in New York, Paris and Dallas.

Dora has interviewed at some extraordinary events, and people informed her how much they enjoyed the interactions; some had even giggled away their feelings of depression.

After overcoming a difficult past filled with self-doubt and mountains of buried emotions, Dora has discovered the power of embracing her quirkiness.

Through her own transformation, she learned the nuts and bolts of replacing the pesky lies about herself – that once controlled her – for the truth, trading negativity for freedom.
Dora comes to help arm others with the truth and know their worth.
Slay those pesky lies! Lift others up to create a ripple effect of positivity that can transform lives!

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?

Everyone has gifts of creativity built within – creativity is exercised in one’s everyday life. It can involve something as simple as coming up with alternate solutions for a dilemma.

Start telling yourself that YOU are creative. Collaborate with other people whom YOU respect, and work on a common goal.

Learn to give and take, and take an art class, an improvisation workshop.

There is no right and wrong in creativity. Have FUN!!!

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?

Last year, we had an amazing opportunity- and it unexpectedly fell thru although we did everything they asked and more.

I was absolutely devastated.

But, late last year, another much more amazing opportunity began presenting itself. And, had the original project gone thru, the team would have been compromised as there was a weak link at the time.

I am immensely grateful, and have learned to have more faith in The Plan🤩🙏🤗❗️
