Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Aaron Hayes. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Aaron, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear the story of how you went from this being just an idea to making it into something real.
Starting anything is the hardest part. Especially if you have no knowledge of the craft. You have these expectations of what you want it to be but you don’t have the information you need to bring your ideas to life. So you start to take one step at a time. You have to find joy in the process or you will quit when it gets hard. You are going to go through a lot of ups and downs but that’s life. You have to make sure you really love what you are doing because then you’ll keep going and stay on the path. So that’s what I did, I found an interest of mine, held on tight and walked the course that I continue on until this day.
Execution is probably the key word. You could have all of the ideas and talent in the world but if you don’t execute or put it into motion nothing will ever come to fruition. I was always interested in clothing, textures, and design. This was something that I always was intrigued by, so I started to teach myself. My path unfortunately wasn’t the traditional art or design school way. My schooling came from life experiences. It took a lot of failing, failing and more failing to even start. In my tenure as a Sr Interior Designer I developed a strong creative eye for color pallets and textures which helped my transition into clothing. This definitely allowed my creative appetite to grow and develop my personal design style.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I grew up in a sports family. My dad played professional basketball in Europe for over 9 years and my brothers played various sports at a high collegiate level. I ended up playing basketball myself on a full ride. This was a sport I loved and it allowed me to experience a lot of wonderful things in life but I knew I wanted to do other things. I felt that I had more to offer.
Transitioning into creating a brand was a challenge because I had no experience at all in what I was trying to do. Brand development has been something that I’ve enjoyed but it forces you to wear many hats. Sometimes you are a designer, a photographer, a videographer, a graphic designer, a website designer, a marketing strategist, a stylist, and the list goes on. It honestly can get really exhausting. School is wonderful and all, but you learn a lot, even more by just doing it.
This craft has allowed me to grow and continuously reinvent myself the way I want. When you start out, you just make what you can. As you get more information you began to make what you want! My resources still haven’t caught up with my vision but I’m closer than when we started so we keep going. I never would have thought we would go from t shirts back then to leather bags today. When you start to see the growth yourself it motivates you to keep going.
The “V.Stella’Rex” brand represents “The Idea of Perfection.” It’s life… It’s the thought of an imperfect human trying to give their all everyday. Putting your best foot forward. Trying to perfect whatever you are doing in life.
Whether it be a job, a hobby, or a passion it’s you giving your all to be the best you can be. We are all imperfect humans in this world today but V.Stella’Rex is the idea or thought of the perfect you. This mindset allows you to continue to improve and push forward everyday.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
If I could give advice to any creative, it would honestly be to put social media outlets in their place. Social media’s gives you a false sense of reality. It’s literally a world that doesn’t exists. As a creative you want to detach yourself from this world as much as you can to allow your art to be truly you. When you are constantly on social media platforms it dilutes the true you that shines through your art. So my advice is to use social media as a tool to promote your business and art not a comparison outlet. You want to keep the authentic you through it all and not to be molded by this system. Being a creative isn’t something we can turn off.. It’s a way of life.
