We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Carrie Cariello a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Carrie, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
I’m just finishing my third book and it’s by far my most personal work yet. I opted to self-publish it as a way to keep control over every aspect, from cover design to content.
Carrie, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Carrie Cariello. I am married to a man named Joe. We have five kids, and our second son Jack is diagnosed with autism. He is nineteen now.
I began writing regularly about autism, marriage, and family ten years ago. I share the highs and lows of life with a diagnosed child and how it impacts our family.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I think my reputation as a writer is largely built on my sharing authentic pieces, so that others may see a piece of themselves inside my words.
I have blogged every Monday for ten years. Writing consistently has helped my audience grow.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
In writing about my son Jack, I aim to introduce boy to world and world to boy.
