There are so many…and it’s not as fun to tell them in writing as it is in person or even over the phone. Anything from having the honor & privilege to be with a Pt. on their deathbed–I suppose most people wouldn’t think that’s heartwarming, but when you take into consideration that this Pt. was also a friend AND a fellow herbalist and pharmacist, and maybe that she was cracking jokes and being delightfully well humored and even hitting on the handsome young MD that came to check on her, then maybe your heart would be a little warmed. Or maybe you’d just have to be there. Or the time I helped get some hormones checked for a middle aged woman with grown triplets and recommended some herbs to support her testosterone levels and she gave some to her husband of 25+yrs (who I’d never seen as a Pt). This husband happened to be an electrician who would on occasion scale ladders. When she would call him, his cell would have a special ring tone and on the day after he took the herbs I’d recommended for her, the mere ring tone assigned to his sweet bride was enough to arouse him in a way that made him embarrassed to descend from that ladder and he swore off that he’d never touch the herbs again. I suppose both these could be seen as unfortunate, but I easily choose to see them as heartwarming. Maybe I’m just weird. Read more>>

I created something beautiful that I never knew I could. Yes I created 2 beautiful daughters, but I also created my own beautiful PURPOSE. In a tough season of my life no one came to save me. I found my own life light by myself in a lifestyle full of negative darkness. I stood up even when everyone wanted me to stay down. I refused to give up because I always kept faith around me.I started writing myself motivational notes and list of goals and things that I said I would accomplish and when I started doubting myself that’s when I looked back at my list of things that I accomplished. In doing that for myself that’s when I realized that I was here for a reason. I realized what real happiness felt like and how powerful it is, and it motivated me to create Aloniebeauty. I will always love me but I am in love with the motivated me. I smile with real happiness now and I am proud of myself (Arkeyvia) for creating Aloniebeauty also known as Motivational Stylist … Read more>>

I suffered in silence for years. I didn’t understand the word divorce so I didn’t asked questions. My parents divorced after 15 years of marriage. I didn’t understand depression would soon come to visit me and plant a seed that would grow very huge and wildly internally. I was only 14 years old when my life took a swift turn for the worst. While excited about my start of high school, but to my surprise I would start my high school journey at a school across town and full of strangers. I was sad, because I didn’t know anyone but my 2 younger sisters. I was bullied because of jealousy and I became very rebellious. I began to make foolish decisions and not take school as seriously as I should which caused me to receive my diploma in summer school June of 1996. I had my first child ( a boy) at the age of 20. My son’s father died and my son was only 4 years old. Read more>>

There are too many heartwarming stories of the people I’ve come in contact with through my work, but I wanted to share how I came into this work. I got sober at 18 years old, and at 19 I began working in the addiction and mental health field as a tech at the treatment center I went through. Over the years, I worked at various different treatment centers across central Texas until I had a relapse in 2014. After attempting to get sober again through traditional treatment, I ended up getting picked up by the state of Texas for a stay in the luxurious Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Read more>>

One of my favorite clients I’ve ever had is a lovely lady whom I’ll call Jane. Jane came to see me with a primary concern of GERD or acid reflux. She had been taking 2 medications for acid reflux for over 10 years and had recently discovered during her first DEXA (bone density) scan that she had osteopenia (initial stage bone loss) and osteoporosis (more severe bone loss) in different areas of her spine. She had done some research on Google and discovered that chronic use of Read more>>

I am a rock radio Hall of Famer. I was a popular motivational business and conference speaker. I had written ten books at the time. It all came to a screeching halt when my mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. As my “therapy group,” I posted the good, the bad, and the bizarre on Facebook for two and a half years. Thousands of people joined me as I cried, laughed, and drank too much wine. Read more>>
