We recently connected with Acid Bat and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Acid Bat, thanks for joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I knew I wanted to create and do music professionally the moment I was around 5. I remember seeing Headbangers ball on mtv with Slipknot being interviewed and being introduced to all these Nü metal bands like coal chamber , static x , and linkin park, etc. at a young age. The golden age of “y2k music “ is what I would say . I remember being genre fluid and liking a lot of music in this era that still inspires me to this day whether it’d be rock, hip hop , or pop. There wasn’t anything else I wanted to do in the world professionally.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My stage name is “AcidBat” I’m a bit of a spooky kid haha . I’m grew up loving Halloween , horror movies, masks collecting , paranormal things from ghosts to aliens. also have a passion for fashion and modeling.
My music and art is about pushing through dealing with mental health, depression , anxiety, being an empath, anger of getting treated low by gatekeepers of the music scene, believing in yourself . Day to day problems etc. I write about real situations unlike some artist in the industry . I want to have soul in my music. I’ll never follow trends nor write a song about things that are made up unless it’s a concept about a story I want to tell. I will make a difference in people’s life’s . I want them to know that they are not alone even when it feels like it’s the end of the world , there’s always a way for to go on. Even if it’s the little things . Live your life , magick is real , and you can always manifest to where you want to be and what you want to do . What’s the point In life if you aren’t aiming for that you know ? The universe has a way of working things out if you push for it .
I think what sets me apart from everyone in the scene is my love for theatrics and actually modernizing older sounds so it brings nostalgia but still feels fresh off the block. I’m planning on bringing an actual stage show with props in the future . No one wants to see an artist In jeans and a t-shirt ,especially the part of the la scene I’m in. Be a character! Stop playing to playback and Being reclusive on the stage. Here’s a mask for this Nü era. This is how the world makes me feel on the inside , so I’ll express it with this on the outside . Screw what you think . I’m building an empire and won’t let any “Bs” wanna be’s stop me.
I’m currently working on my first album outside of singles I’ve previously put out. This piece of music is a lot heavier and comes from my roots of music opposed to dabbling into all the genres I’ve done previously . It’s a Nü metal record modernized with new sounds and experimentation here and there . Keep an eye out for updates and singles from that album on my socials @TheAcidBat looking forward to sharing my craft with you all!
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Honestly freedom of expression and getting to be able to have opportunities to tell my stories , sing it out my emotions on stage , and to work towards touring the world and sharing moments connecting with people who feel the same way.
Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Don’t share your musical goals or plans for your career with just anyone ! They’ll take your ideas in a heartbeat because some people are un-original and want to be relevant and can take because they have more funds than you to make it happen at the time. Just have self identity and be original yo. I’ve had this happen to me in the past but I didn’t let it break me , I had to keep going and stay true to myself , think outside the box and come up with new game plan . What’s real will prosper and what’s artificial will die out eventually. People are aware and not blind.
