Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sedaya. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Sedaya, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Almost all entrepreneurs have had to decide whether to start now or later? There are always pros and cons for waiting and so we’d love to hear what you think about your decision in retrospect. If you could go back in time, would you have started your business sooner, later or at the exact time you started?

I truly believe that I started my business at the right time. There’s always a thought of possibility if I began earlier, maybe I would have had a little more knowledge or more recognition, but I believe in God’s timing and that he has a plan for everything, including my success. If you would have told me six years ago that I would become a 6 time published magazine makeup artist with my own skincare and beauty brand, I would’ve thought you were talking about someone else, not me haha! But God has other plans for us, ones we do not see coming or can ever even imagine. And that is BEAUTY. Senior year of pursuing my undergrad degree, I began what is worldwide known today, Eye Adore Beauty, and have never looked back.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers?

I am Sedaya, and I am the creator of Eye Adore Beauty – a plant based skincare and beauty brand that is self funded and black owned. We offer vegan, cruelty free, and plant based products that are custom made based on skin conditions or skincare and beauty goals. Anything from acne, dark marks, hyperpigmentation, dry skin, aging, uneven skin tone to hair or lash growth, we can correct! Heal your skin and adore it. The ultimate goal of Eye Adore Beauty is to inspire women and men to love the skin their in- their natural beauty- and promote self care and confidence to all. We are all beautiful beings, and we deserve to be ADORED.

Have you ever had to pivot?

COVID.

Not only did it affect loved ones and frontline workers, but also many businesses in ways you’d never imagine. Most companies went bankrupt, or closed/ shut down. Others began and flourished and were able to provide a income for those out of work. For us, we were on the brink of closing.

Eye adore Beauty began 10 months before shutdown and was as busy as ever. From marketing, to profits, to brand ambassador partnerships to interviews and more, we were growing. Then it stopped. COVID hit us hard, affecting our products, shipments, customers, and sadly, our CEO. It took quite awhile to recover, with many thoughts of giving up, failure, regret, and complete sadness.

But as I told you earlier, God’s timing is always right. Our CEO Sedaya was able to recover, personally and business wise, and took that year of affect to PIVOT. With a new outlook on what worked and what didn’t, what was good and what was bad, what needed improvement and what should stay the same…. Eye Adore Beauty was rebirthed.

Today, we are glad to say nothing can stop us, but only make us better.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?

Social Media. Hands Down.

I never forget the people that made Eye Adore Beauty what it is today. Those clients that supported me in the beginning, when things got hard, when COVID affected my business, or when I thought I wanted to give up. Those people believed in me, believed in my brand, and wanted to see me succeed. That’s what kept me going. I did it for them.

Many of my clients are worldwide. Shoutout to @JayGbeauty in Barcelona! And thanks to support and loyalty by her and numerous others in different states and companies, I was able to build a name and reputation for Eye Adore Beauty.
