We recently connected with Javaughn Johnson and have shared our conversation below.

Javaughn, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How did you come up with the idea for your business?

The idea of owning my own construction company came to me as a teenager. I began working for my dad in the field of construction when I was a just a kid. At the age of 19 I became a father. At that point, I knew it was time to create my own path. I was no longer a kid trying to find my way. I was a teenage parent trying to make the best decisions for my own family now. At that age you aren’t really fearful of much. But I had a lot to learn. I started doing small jobs at first and once I was able to master that, I began taking on larger projects. The smaller projects weren’t intimidating, but the bigger projects were. I knew that if I wanted to become a good business owner I had to take the step with small jobs. Those didn’t come with much of a risk. However the bigger jobs did. I had to learn how to provide accurate prices and budget and that was very difficult in the beginning. I can say through trial and error I have truly how learned and become better.

Javaughn, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

My name is Javaughn Johnson, and I am the owner and operator of Javaughn Johnson & Sons. I have over 18 years of experience in the Construction Industry. The core of our business is offering services in terms of concrete, block, brick, and demolition. We are equipped to handle the smallest to the largest projects. As a multiple trade construction company, we value our ability to work smoothly and closely with contractors, clients and other subcontractors to achieve mutual benefit. I became involved in the construction industry as a young kid. I would go to work with my dad often. In doing so throughout the years, I developed a love in the field of construction. It was a field that just seemed natural for me to maneuver through. I grasp concepts and ideas fairly quickly and I love working with my hands and building things.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?

To be perfectly honest. I am a bit old fashion. I have been very with obtain new clients. My source of new clients comes from word of mouth. It comes from people I have worked for, and they refer me.

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?

I have always been in business for myself by myself. I have a silent business partner and that is my wife. She is a behind the scenes kind of person. That helps with the day-to-day functions of the business. She helps me out a lot.
