Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Camron Sheppard. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Camron thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
I started creating Chill9 when I was Fifteen. I was inspired by multiple brands, such as, Nike, Hollister, etc. These brands reached through communities and created a common space. That was my first goal of my brand, but I wanted to dig deeper. How could I make Chill9 different? I began to realize that even though big brand names reached through a good part of the community, it didn’t reach all of it. I wanted to make my brand accessible for everyone, this means that I would begin to create with all different categories such as making something just as high quality, but at an affordable price so no one could be left out.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Thank you for the opportunity to elaborate on my background and the work I do. My name is Cam, and I am a driven and enterprising individual who has found great passion and success in the fashion industry and as an entrepreneur. AS the owner and founder of Chill9 Clothing, i have dedicated my efforts to providing exceptional products and services to my clients.
My journey in this industry began at the age of 15 with an investment of $40 and a small collection of 5 hats. With determination and vision, I meticulously built Chilll9 from the ground up. Over the course of nearly 8 years, I have expanded our range of products, including shirts, shorts, sweats, hoodies, and more.
One of the foundational principles that have guided my brands development to the commitment to affordability without comprising on quality. I firmly believe that fashion should not only be accessible but also crafted with exceptional attention to detail. By maintaining this balance, I aim to solve this problem.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
This is an amazing question because this is the first “issue,” that stops people from starting a business. A lot of people think that you have to have a thousand dollars or so in the bank in order to even begin, but in reality, that’s not true. In most cases all you need is your phone. My story starts off with 38 dollars. I used that money to get five trucker’s hats, which then turned into 125 dollars. The next steps were shirts, and there was a local print shop that advertised twenty-five shirts for 225 dollars. At the time I was working at Mcdonalds, so I used money from my paycheck to buy the shirts. Since then, I’ve just been using the money I earn and flipping it for more product slowly earning more, and more. edit last sentence

Can you talk to us about manufacturing? How’d you figure it all out? We’d love to hear the story.
I started out having local print shops making my shorts and hats. As I was entering my 3rd year with the brand, I was wanting to be more hands on and make sure the quality I provided was above average. I never was too interested in manufacturing my brand overseas. I’ve always wanted to say that my products are made in house and if I can’t say that at least I can say it’s made in America. The process of learning how to screen print and do various types of vinyl was a long one. It took me about 3-4 months to be able to release a product I made! Now there are still some bumps in the road making our own products and not having them printed overseas but it’s well worth it and I think its apart pf what makes Chill9 Clothing unique.
