We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Christopher Hinze a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Christopher, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Almost every entrepreneur we know has considered donating a portion of their sales to an organization or cause – how did you make the decision of whether to donate? We’d love to hear the backstory if you’re open to sharing the details.
We give a portion of all commissions and revenue to building homes and schools in Uganda, Africa. We chose the organization, godesign, because we align on the mission and the reason behind the mission. They are amazing humans who have put their skill sets and degrees to use serving people.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Chris Hinze. I got into real estate and lending in order to help create sustainability not only for my family, but for families worldwide. Real estate can help families build generational wealth and we want to help provide solutions for individuals to achieve that.
We are a one stop shop that has a real estate brokerage, mortgage brokerage, hard money lending and any service to help you buy, sell, and invest.
We have a motto of real people, real investments. We see everyone as a person and not a commission. We have a saying that people are the currency of heaven, not money. If we have that mindset then it will never matter about the money and we can serve people genuinely.
Can you talk to us about your experience with selling businesses?
I have sold one of my business and even bought one. The most important thing you can do as an entrepreneur is DOCUMENT YOUR PROCESS. If you haven’t started documenting your process then you are behind. If you want to sell your company, the first thing they will look t is if you are organized and if there is a system in place.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I actually named a lot of my companies ‘Arise’ which is a word I got after some really hard times. I was sent a demand letter from people who used to call me brother and threatening to sue me. IT ended up being very personal and my identity was attacked. It is really hard to come back from hard times like that, but as an entrepreneur we have those all the time. I got this word Arise to show me that we are going to fog through hard times but if you can keep getting back up after the punches, we will see the fulfillment of God’s promises.
