We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful ArtDeco’d. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with ArtDeco’d.
ArtDeco’d, appreciate you joining us today. Can you tell us the backstory behind how you came up with the idea?
It all started at our weekly wine night at Jane’s where we often daydreamed & spent hours just talking about what we wanted out of life. We had loved the idea of owning a business together and had thrown around a lot of ideas over the years but that one night it finally clicked. We both love vintage shopping, interior design & styling. We often are both approached about our own spaces & style. After talking for a couple hours, we had created an entire business plan.
During Covid, Meghan began flipping vintage furniture pieces to expand her creative outlets. She quickly realized her passion for collecting unique & secondhand finds. At our core, ArtDeco’d is about creating uniquely curated & collected interiors. So the name to us seemed perfect even after rebranding. ArtDeco’d – The Art Of Decorating.
We both felt unfulfilled in our careers & ArtDeco’d is what brought us joy. That’s not to say running a business is easy. We have had quite a few learning opportunities. There are tough decisions & sacrifices you have to make as a business owner, but every bit of it is worth it to us. We are passionate & love what we do. We have been determined to create a company that we enjoy being at everyday.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Meghan went to Texas Tech and received a degree in Interior Design, Architecture & Human Sciences. From there she moved to Dallas where she began working for a furniture & design company as a design assistant. There she met so many influential designers who mentored her in many ways. After leaving there, she began working for a homebuilder as an estimator where she learned the construction side of design.
Madison also went to Texas Tech where she graduated with a degree in retail management. From there she moved to Dallas, where embarked on a diverse professional path. Her love of travel led her to becoming a flight attendant for a few years before transitioning into marketing. She has always maintained an interest in interior design which is what ultimately led her to a career in real estate.

The essence of their design lies in the creation of soulful spaces that are uniquely curated and thoughtfully collected.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
We are now coming up on a year of being in business. We have been able to obtain multiple clients while having full time jobs in order to get this business off the ground. Our goal is to be full time in our company, however that takes time and we are being patient with the process. We have worked many late nights & weekends in order to provide quality service to our clients.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For us, the most rewarding part of our job is creating beautiful spaces for our clients. Everyone deserves to live in a safe that they love and find comfort in. Having the feeling of knowing this is what we are supposed to be doing is fulfilling our purpose and creating personal happiness as well.
