We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Cam Kashani. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Cam below.
Hi Cam, thanks for joining us today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
My parents are immigrants and so am I. We moved to the US when I was almost 2 years old. The resilience, hard work and dedication they had to come to a new country where they don’t know the language and with less that five dollars in their pocket and a baby, is a level of fearlessness that I feel in my veins. And it helps me every time I fall, every time I fail, and every time I want to give up. I remember who I am, and I get right back up. I’m beyond grateful to have the parents I have. My father became a well known and well respected physician and my mother has her degree in Psychology. Without them I wouldn’t be who I am.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
After going through a tumultuous and unpredictable time in in my life, I finally arrived at doing what I do now: empowering women to embody their Divine feminine — the most authentically empowered aspect of Self. I have my doctorate in Spiritual Studies, degree in Spiritual Psychology and my MBA in business marketing — so I’ve got a unique approach in what I do.
I used to be silent. Scared. Insecure. I attracted people and relationships that were toxic. I would over-give and have trouble receiving. I would avoid speaking up for fear of disturbing the peace and instead create a war inside myself. I was severely disempowered.
Following my divorce I went head first into every seminar, book and coach I could find to help me release my pain and my limiting beliefs. And it worked. In less than a year I went from being a zombie in my bed to leading groups of women and the youth in the Middle East through the work I did as an expert speaker with the State Dept. I finally found my voice, and it was LOUD.
I realized that my purpose and sacred work is exactly that – to help women find their voice and remember their true authentic power. And so I became a coach and speaker and haven’t looked back since.
I specifically help women struggling with unworthiness, self worth issues, body and Self image and more. I lead masterminds, retreats, 1-1 coaching and sacred ceremonial circles. I also have a podcast called the Cam Kashani show.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Having lost my business by leaving my first marriage, I went through a very dark and scary time. I wasn’t sure where my career would go, and I was jobless. But I never gave up on myself. I had to start all over, and as a single mom to twin baby boys nonetheless, and I didn’t let any of it stop me. In fact I decided to let it fuel me into becoming the empowered woman I became.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
So many. If I had to pick one I would say Self worth, which so many women are programmed to believe we aren’t enough. This reflects in relationships (tolerating more than you want to), in business (getting paid less than your worth), and so much more. I had to do a ton of worth to release this, and being on the other side of it is absolutely liberating.
