We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Enrique Puerto. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Enrique below.
Enrique, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
For some time I dedicated myself to learning. I always wanted to learn from the best. But I didn’t know why I wanted to learn. The simple fact of being better did not satisfy me 100%.
Along the way, I was discovering what is the real reason for wanting to learn more and more.
I wanted to learn to share. It is useless for me to stay with that knowledge, I like to share what I have learned.
Also, wanting to learn made me realize that to achieve it, it was essential to do things without expecting something in return, that was a key point in my learning process.
Enrique, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I studied Graphic Design. I worked for 2 years in an agency doing advertising, but what I liked the most (and I didn’t know how to do) is Branding.
I decided that I wanted to learn from the best. I managed to be a trainee for 3 months in the FUTURA studio, after which time I stayed working for 3 more years with them.
After that, I was able to do a 3-month Internship in Sweden at the SNASK Agency, the best experience of my life. Learning from the best.
I currently offer design services focused on Branding, Packaging, Logo Design, and Illustration for any type of brand. I also give conferences and give workshops focused on brand conceptualization, isotype design, and identity.
I appreciate the trust and creative freedom that clients give me to develop their projects, that is a key point in the results of the projects I carry out.
I am very proud to see the result of my work out there in the market, in the shop window, in the supermarket, on the street.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Collaboration has been the best!
Collaborate with different artists. Illustrators, designers, 3D artists, architects, animators, web designers. Collaborate to make the project more complete and effective.
Another important factor is to invest enough in the portfolio, talking about time and quality in the images of how to show the project in your portfolio.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Being able to express oneself through design or illustration without having to use words. Many times with something very simple we can express something very complex
