Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?

As a writer, I cherished crafting characters and breathing life into my stories. Initially, I had no plans to learn book creation or illustration. However, when my page maker and illustrator abandoned the project, I had no choice but to learn. I sought guidance from YouTube and online courses, eventually finding solace in Canva. With Canva’s help, I now write, illustrate, create, and publish independently, embracing the creative process with newfound confidence and self-reliance. The unexpected challenges transformed into a blessing, empowering me to share my stories on my terms—a rewarding journey of growth and accomplishment.

Allow me to introduce myself and share my journey as an indie filmmaker and author. My name is Honeymoon Aljabri, and from a young age, I fell in love with the art of storytelling. This passion for weaving tales led me to embark on a creative journey that has shaped my identity as both a filmmaker and an author.

As an author, I have authored nine captivating children’s books and two mesmerizing poetry collections. Currently, I’m in the final stages of completing my first novel, “Leila,” which is set to be released on September 1st. Additionally, I’m thrilled to announce that my cooking book is scheduled to be published by the end of this year. Each work reflects my dedication to storytelling and my desire to connect with readers on a profound level.

While filmmaking has been a significant part of my life, I made the transition to book writing to further pursue my passion for storytelling. Producing films can be financially challenging, especially for an indie filmmaker like me. Despite dedicating my heart and soul to five films as a writer, producer, and director, financial success has been elusive. Nevertheless, I have never been discouraged by the obstacles, as my primary focus is to share meaningful narratives with the world.

As an indie filmmaker and author, I believe in the power of supporting independent creators. By choosing to read my books, you not only experience captivating stories but also become a crucial part of nurturing the voice of the unknown. Your support enables me to continue crafting tales that touch hearts and minds.

What sets my work apart is the unwavering dedication I pour into each creation. What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?

As an artist and creative, the most rewarding aspect for me is witnessing the impact of my work on young readers, especially children. Seeing kids engrossed in my books and experiencing the joy and wonder that storytelling brings to their lives is an indescribable feeling of fulfillment. Each time a child flips through the pages, their eyes widening with excitement, my heart soars with happiness, and it ignites an insatiable desire to continue creating more meaningful content.

In my books, I strive to blend captivating storytelling with factual information and an artistic approach to teaching. This fusion allows me to not only entertain young minds but also educate them in an engaging and memorable manner. Watching children absorb new knowledge, explore imaginative worlds, and connect with the characters and themes in my stories is a profound reward in itself.

Though I may not have achieved bestseller status yet, the genuine appreciation from young readers and their eagerness to delve into my literary creations fuel my passion to keep going. My creative journey is driven by a powerful and inspiring goal! is non-profit organization, Amani Read to Lead, serves a noble mission of educating children and instilling hope through the magic of reading. The vision to “travel the world via books” is a remarkable way to empower young minds with knowledge and broaden their horizons, regardless of their physical location or circumstances.

My children book series centered around the curious girl Amani, showcases the rich history, diverse cultures, and captivating tourism in Africa. By using storytelling as a medium, you are not only entertaining children but also fostering a deep appreciation and understanding of the African continent. This approach not only educates but also promotes cultural exchange and empathy among young readers from different parts of the world.

I have already written few titles such as “Amani Wanders in Serengeti” and “Amani Swims with Mermaids in Zanzibar” speaks volumes about your dedication to sharing the wonders of Tanzania and other African countries with young readers. Your book titles like “Amani Snoops a Gorilla” and “Amani Dances with Whales” hint at exciting adventures that ignite curiosity and fascination.

With the ambitious goal of writing 54 books in this series, you are truly on a mission to make a significant impact on children worldwide. The vision of opening mini libraries in refugee camps and low-income areas demonstrates your commitment to bringing accessible education and hope to those in need.
