Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jessica Dalziel. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jessica, appreciate you joining us today. To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard.
At the Peer Advisory Group, we believe that true leadership comes from fostering stronger connections and leveraging collective wisdom. Instead of trying to teach women how to be leaders, we create an environment where professional women from around the world can grow through shared experiences, diverse perspectives, and supportive relationships.
Our programs are designed to empower women to tap into their unique strengths, challenge the status quo, and embrace their authentic leadership style. We believe that by harnessing the power of collaboration and connection, women can unlock their full potential and make a lasting impact.
Our classic membership is also completely free, which eliminates barriers to entry for women who are trying to start up their own business as well (and we already don’t have enough access to funding!). Any masterclasses that we host are centered on complex topics and giving different perspectives to solving for a problem rather than trying to educate a woman how to lead.
Jessica, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m Jessica Dalziel, the founder of the Peer Advisory Group. With over 15 years of experience in collaborating with Fortune 500 companies, mid-size businesses, and micro brands, I have dedicated my career to empowering women leaders and fostering their sustained progression. Through the Peer Advisory Group, we offer a range of leadership development programs and services that focus on building stronger connections and leveraging collective wisdom.
Our goal is to create an inclusive and supportive community where women from all walks of life can thrive and grow. We provide valuable insights, resources, and opportunities for women to tap into their unique strengths, overcome challenges, and make a lasting impact in their personal and professional lives.
What sets us apart is our approach to leadership development. Rather than simply teaching women how to be leaders, we believe in the power of connection, collaboration, and shared experiences. By harnessing the collective wisdom of our diverse community, we enable women to embrace their authentic leadership style and navigate the complexities of today’s dynamic business landscape.
I am most proud of the positive impact we have made in the lives of countless women who have participated in our programs. Witnessing their growth, transformation, and success is truly rewarding. We want potential future members to know that at the Peer Advisory Group, we are committed to their growth, empowerment, and success. Join us on this incredible journey and unlock your full potential.
Whether you’re an aspiring leader, an established professional, or a business owner, we invite you to be a part of our vibrant community and experience the power of connection and collective wisdom. Together, we can amplify the progression and success of women leaders worldwide.
Have you ever had to pivot?
As a small business owner, we have the flexibility to remain agile and slightly modify our practices and services to accommodate to client needs and demands with no red tape and minimal roadblocks. Businesses and the subsequent business relationships that we build are more like a plant rather than a school homework assignment. With the latter, we do our research, write up our report, proofread it and turn it in. Done, ready for my grade. But businesses don’t really work like that. They are more like a plant that we grow from a seedling, nurture, giving it a lot of care and attention, fulfilling its needs, ensuring we are operating in the right environment.
When we think about pivoting in a business sense, we are essentially moving that plant to a new pot or transplanting to a completely different environment. Maybe it becomes part of a bigger landscape or maybe it’s best on its own.
During Covid, many small business owners were scaling back on their spends to safeguard the uncertainty about what was to come. For a consulting business like D&Co, we had to slightly shift our efforts and we focused a lot less on 1:1 consulting and a lot more time on our free Peer Advisory Group program.
Fast forward to 2022, the program really was growing a lot more than a free service line from our consulting business. It was at that point in time we decided to split the brand off from D&Co and give it the attention it deserves. We underwent an entire rebrand effort and have since re-platformed to a much more engaging tool, launching our paid program this September.
While D&Co gave the Peer Advisory Group its roots, it has since flourished into something that we didn’t predict and now it has the room to continue to expand and thrive on its own.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
We strongly believe that the most effective way to grow your clientele is by consistently fulfilling your brand promises through exceptional client experience and fostering an environment that cultivates loyalty. In short, when people love working with you they buy more and spread the word.
Creating a memorable and positive client experience goes beyond just meeting expectations; it means exceeding them. Actively listen to what the clients are saying (not what we want to hear!) and tailor your services to address their specific needs. When you can, go the extra mile to provide exceptional service. A satisfied client is more likely to become a loyal advocate for your brand, recommending your services to others and contributing to your organic growth.
In addition to delivering on your promises, creating an environment that fosters loyalty is equally essential. Build strong and lasting relationships with your clients by maintaining open and transparent communication, demonstrating genuine care for their success, and being responsive to their evolving needs.
Moreover, prioritize ongoing engagement with your existing clientele. At the end of the day, your clients are just humans too. They are living their lives and have the same kind of stressors that we face too. Showing empathy, support and genuine care for your customers creates an emotional connection of trust — which is the conduit to any sustainable business growth.
By focusing on fulfilling your brand promises and nurturing loyalty through exceptional client experiences, you can build a strong foundation for sustainable growth. Happy and loyal clients become brand ambassadors, spreading the word about your outstanding services and attracting new clients to your business organically. Any activities (i.e. paid media, etc.) you choose to do beyond that to support various aspects of a buyers journey/ sales funnel really are supplementing or amplifying that social proof that you business has already established.
Remember, client satisfaction and loyalty are not just goals; they are the driving forces behind your business’s long-term success.
