Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Cinthia Almeida. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Cinthia, thanks for joining us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Great question! First of all, we can ask to ourselves: what is success to me? Because what could be success to me could not be to you! When we have this clarity is easier to understand what we could do to be successful. For example, success to me is related to impact people in their lives, helping them to maximize their talents and highlight themselves to raise their personal brands to achieve their goals.
If I can say a step by step to be more successful, I would say?
1. Discover what is success to you
2. How could you establish the goals to reach your objective to have success?
3. What are the bonus and onus to reach your success?
4. Are you prepared to have a success?
5. Enjoy your journey to reach the success. The process counts on having the success.
Cinthia, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
For more than 20 years I have been working with Marketing, Branding and People. I usually say that my major is Advertising, my work is Marketing and my heart is to raise people with their talents.
I reinvented myself and created my own methods based on my professional and personal background.
I am a Brazilian living in the US where I work as a Personal Marketing Consultant, Personal Branding Consultant and Leadership Coach with professionals from all over the world through online mentoring.
In the latest years, I have mentored more than 100 executives (from interns to C- level) and entrepreneurs with effective results. I help professionals to be recognized or stand out for what they are and do, or even to raise or change their career position and businesses goals.
I also help companies through lectures, workshops and training sessions with the following themes: Female Leadership, Networking, Executive Presence in Digital, Communication and Personal Marketing.
Besides my professional experience, I also carry my badge of mom, having two kids, who has taught me to improve my skills in leadership, negotiation and communication every single day.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I was a Global Executive in a maternity leave after having our first child, when my husband received a proposal to work as an expat here, in US, for some years.
After analyzing all the pros and cons, we decided to come to the US and I decided to interrupt my career as an Executive to become a full time mom. But, almost one year later and living in Michigan, I realized I was starting to miss my career identity. On the other hand, I couldn’t see myself back to the corporate life I had before.
To find my new identity and figure out what could be my next steps I worked together with a Career Coach that helped me understand what is it that I really want for my future. We went through an eye-opening process of self-awareness, understanding my skills, wishes and aspirations.
At that time I had many discoveries including a new and non-negotiable value to me: the flexibility!
The following months were dedicated to studying and creating my business plan. I opened my own business – a Personal Marketing Consultancy, where I could combine all my passions: People, Marketing, Branding and Strategy.
I started my business with some beta clients! I invited few friends (and they agreed!) that could benefit from some help. I applied exclusive methodologies and after the process was completed I gathered their feedbacks, which were essential to start building my portfolio and to enhance the deliverables for my clients.
After 5 years of lots of dedication, improving my network ability and learning about many different segments, I can say that I really found not only my identity, but also my mission in the world: help people to identify their strengths, tell their stories and leverage their essence and authenticity to highlight into the target market.
How did you build your audience on social media?
As my networking was far from me, I decided to start my social media channels to amplify my new moment of entrepreneurship. I opened a professional account to share marketing and leadership contents based on my experience and studies. I also decided to create a website to support my audience to find me at search channels and to see how I could help them with my services.
In the beginning I was shy and my impostor syndrome was present along the days, saying: “what do you have so interesting that could be told to the people?” But I realized that each day I was impacting some of them! They were sending to me messages telling how those contents have being so important to them. And with this feedback I turned more confident that I was helping them with my knowledge and background.
Another very important advice to whom is starting in social media is: listen your audience! Ask them if the content is helping, what they want know about you and experience, how they want know…. all of these questions are essentials to keep a good conversation and attraction in online environment.
